Anonymous: "I think the problem with the fixtures is clear. the premiership and championship started a week to late. If it had started a week earlier this would have allowed for the leagues to be decided by the 24th/25th allowing the Scottish cup to still be the last fixture of the Scottish football calendar on the 30th. Food for thought for next season!"

Si the Hibby: "Why don't they just play the play-offs starting the midweek after the season ends? 2 games a week and it's all done the weekend before the cup final? Surely not any shorter notice for finding out your opponents than during the play-offs themselves?"

Ian, Edinburgh on Sportsound pundit Allan Preston's comments on players' contracts running out before the play-offs: "Allan said players contracts end on the 31st of May, but do we know how many Hibs and Falkirk players ARE actually OUT of contract then ? This is a Preston poser that might drag on."

"The conditions have imposed themselves on this game more than either side. The wind in particular has made control and passing of the ball awkward.

"Rangers have been restricted to half-chances, with Kris Boyd volleying over and Kenny Miller curling a shot over from 20 yards. Otherwise, this game has been brutally undermined by the wind and the heaviness of the pitch."

"A new era started off the pitch for Rangers yesterday, but the football business of this season has still to be addressed and the new directors will be hoping that the players will be lifted by recent events. Cowdenbeath will still be bruised by their 10-0 defeat by Hearts last weekend, so in blustery conditions, and on a heavy pitch, the stage is set for an unpredictable encounter."

He said: "It was a long time coming [getting on the board of directors]. It's been a long road, a few twists and turns but it's great to get to the end of it. I've always said that I've wanted to the club back in safe hands.

"The cash is there from the investors we have. When it goes in? We'll have to spend some time looking at the financial position of the club.

"Obviously I'm bias but I think Rangers are the biggest club in Scotland. With that comes a responsibility.

"First of all what we've got to do is get the club back to a position where we can compete in the SPL. Obviously our objective ultimately is to win the SPL and compete in the Champions League."
