  1. Vital win for the Foxespublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 12 April 2015

Bottom club Leicester gave their hopes of escaping relegation a big fillip as Jamie Vardy scored a late winner at West Brom.

Leicester, three points off safety, conceded first as Darren Fletcher escaped his man to head in. David Nugent poked home to level but the Foxes fell behind again as Craig Gardner's deflected volley bobbled in.

But the visitors' hard work after the break paid off as Robert Huth nodded in and Vardy scored a 90th-minute winner.

  5. Palace 'like watching Brazil' - Pardewpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 12 April 2015

Crystal Palace's performance in their win at Sunderland was 'like watching Brazil', said Eagles boss Alan Pardew.

A hat-trick from Yannick Bolasie and a goal from Glenn Murray, his sixth in six games, gave Palace an easy 4-1 victory at the Stadium of Light.

Palace, 11th in the table, are aiming to finish in the top half of the Premier League for the first time.

"Our fans were singing 'it's like watching Brazil', and it was," 53-year-old Pardew told BBC Sport.

"We were terrific and we caused Sunderland a lot of problems. It was an emphatic win and the scoreline didn't even do us justice. We had so many chances and never looked in any danger."

  6. 'What Pardew has done at Palace is phenomenalpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 12 April 2015

    Match of the Day

Former Tottenham and Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas:

"Sunderland were terrible and Palace capitalised. They played Yannick Bolasie down the middle and he created problems for Sunderland all day. He caused havoc. For the third goal Mile Jedinak didn't even look up. He's just popped a ball over the top, Bolasie's given John O'Shea a five-yard head start and he's just eaten him up.

"What Alan Pardew's done at Palace is phenomenal. Newcastle should count themselves lucky he was there earlier in the season or it could have been a different situation for them."

  7. Sunderland concede four at home. Againpublished at 11:11 British Summer Time 12 April 2015

Yannick Bolasie's 11-minute hat-trick helped Crystal Palace humiliate relegation-threatened Sunderland.

Glenn Murray put the Eagles ahead when he headed in from close range after Bolasie's deflected cross. Bolasie added a second soon afterwards as he poked the ball past Costel Pantilimon after Murray's knockdown.

A lofted finish from Bolasie made it 3-0 and he completed his treble from Murray's pass before Connor Wickham volleyed in a late consolation. The result, the second time in three home games that Sunderland have conceded four goals, increases the Black Cats' relegation fears.

  11. 'Benteke was just unplayable'published at 11:04 British Summer Time 12 April 2015

    Match of the Day

Former Fulham and Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy:

"I think the effect Tim Sherwood has on strikers is clear. You saw it with Emmanuel Adebayor at Tottenham where he brought the best out of him. I think he puts his arm around players and gives them the freedom to go and express themselves. Benteke was just unplayable. He gave Federico Fazio and Eric Dier such a tough time in the air, but also made all the right decisions with the ball at his feet.

"Benteke had more touches than any other Aston Villa player today. That is highly unusual for a striker, but it reflects the way that this team is set up to bring the best out of him."

"I think that the young players who are thriving at Tottenham are largely a part of Tim Sherwood's role with the under-21s and then as manager of the senior team at White Hart Lane last season. He should have got the Tottenham role this summer for me."

They had to see it out with 10 men after Carlos Sanchez was sent off for a second booking late on.

Speaking of Sunday League football. This is surely the most heart-warming football story you will read all day.

    Stiliyan PetrovImage source, Stiliyan Petrov

Just days after being cleared of leukaemia, ex-Aston Villa midfielder Stiliyan Petrov scored and helped his Sunday League team - Wychall Wanderers - win the Central Warwickshire Over-35s Premier Division One Cup.

Petrov retired from professional football in 2013 after being diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

"After my treatment people told me I can't play football again, but now I can kick a ball again - even at this level and win something like this," said the 35-year-old Bulgarian.

"This will go next to my Uefa Cup medal. But it is more valuable than everything else - it is priceless."
