Here come the teams. The stands are looking pretty empty at the moment but there is a real focus in England's faces.
They mean business.

Quote MessageIt's a massive task for England against the formidable Germany team. We drew with them 0-0 back in the 2007 World Cup and that was tough task. They will not be happy to be in the third / fourth play-off. England may change their tactics considering their 3-0 loss when we last played Germany in a game at Wembley.

This has been very much a squad game for England in this tournament.
Mark Sampson has used 22 of his 23 players at the tournament – goalkeeper Carly Telford is the only player yet to feature.
Captain Steph Houghton is the only England player to play every minute.

What a decade in charge it has been for Germany manager Silvia Neid.
One World Cup, two European Championships and an Olympic bronze.
This will be the 51-year-old's last World Cup game though as she steps down at the end of the year. It will be her 17th Women’s World Cup match and only Norway’s Even Pellerud (25) has been in charge of more matches at the finals.
"This German team have got the greatest coach in the history of the women's game," Sampson said.

Quote MessageAlex Greenwood is starting and is great at getting crosses in the box. The German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer has dropped a couple at this World Cup so England will be aiming to test her.

Ex-England defender Faye White has lots of sympathy for defender Laura Bassett, whose last-minute own goal saw England lose 2-1 to Japan in the semi-final.
Quote MessageIn 2011 I missed the last penalty in our quarter-final against France so I can relate to how Laura is feeling, that feeling of looking at your team-mates' eyes and feeling that you're responsible for their disappointment. But playing today will be the best thing for her and getting on with the tournament. She will have the family and team-mates supporting her.

Quote MessageI'm not surprised there has been a positive reaction to Laura Bassett. It is one of those things and people understand that. She has been a soldier throughout the tournament.

Quote MessageLaura Bassett has been looking forward to this for the last 24 hours, she will be confident and composed and will produce the level she has produced all tournament. What a challenge. A German team who have not lost to a European opposition in a World Cup since the turn of the century. England have never beaten them before but this team are determined to make history.

Talk about a tear jerker.
England defender Laura Bassett talks at length to the BBC about coming to terms with her own goal which knocked the Lionesses out of the Women's World Cup.
Describing the moment she realised she had conceded a goal to Japan, she said: "I couldn't breathe, my heart was out of my chest, I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me in."
