The decision to disallow Cameron Jerome's effort for Norwich for a high boot does not go down well with the striker's union.....  

"That's the worst decision you will see all season - on the opening day. If Palace had scored it I would have been saying the same. It was a wonderful finish. Was it the referee or the assistant? It's ridiculous. All he did was hook it over his shoulder."

Palace look very happy to defend this lead now, and maybe snatch something on the counter. Yannick Bolasie almost creates something with a one-two with Jason Puncheon, but Norwich deal with it.

Hmmm. This is controversial. Norwich think they're level. The referee has other ideas.

Robbie Brady's free-kick is turned in by a hooked, overhead-kick style finish from Cameron Jerome. But Simon Hooper says it was a dangerous high boot, with Joel Ward trying to make a defensive header.

Norwich are furious.

Nathan Redmond looks harmless when he collects the ball about 25 yards out. The Norwich winger hits a daisy cutter which seems innocuous, but it creeps into Alex McCarthy's right-hand post.

Wilfried Zaha gets caught by Bradley Johnson, who then steps over the Palace winger. Zaha goes to react, but Damien Delaney is straight over to tell the youngster to settle down. Excellent leadership by Delaney there.

No sign of movement on the Palace bench yet, but they've got some genuine quality sat there. Connor Wickham, Mile Jedinak, Yannick Bolasie, Patrick Bamford... not bad really.

Jason Puncheon is enjoying himself. The Palace forward is causing all sorts of bother for the Norwich full-backs and is again clipping in a cross, which Norwich deal with.

At the other end, Jonny Howson has a sniff with a half volley from the edge of the area but it's limp and off target.

Norwich, again building from the back, but it all peters out down the left flank.

Palace's Jordon Mutch gets a thorough clattering from Bradley Johnson, who wins the ball. Meaty stuff.

Norwich fans won't need reminding that Damien Delaney is a former Ipswich town man, so that adds a bit of salt to the wound.

Steven Whittaker cuts in and strikes one for the Canaries, but it's straight at Alex McCarthy.

Norwich make a double change with Lewis Grabban and Alex Tettey coming off. Cameron Jerome and Nathan Redmond come on.

Nearly an instant reply from Norwich, as Bradley Johnson stoops low to meet a header five yards out, but keeper Alex McCarthy is in the right place to save.

As far as goals from corners go, this is top notch.

Norwich fail to spot Pape Souare (23) roaming on the edge of the area - Jason Puncheon (42) does though and the Sengalese nods it to the far post where Damien Delaney (27) has a simple finish.

Crystal Palace will be very pleased. They've shown that bit of extra Premier League nous, absorbing a long period of Norwich pressure and then hitting a sucker punch.

Lewis Grabban poked wide a great chance for the Canaries early on. But it's Wilfried Zaha's lovely controlled volley that has the visitors in front.

Norwich win the first corner of the game, apparently. It's sent in by Robbie Brady, met by Bradley Johnson at the back post, and drifts wide.

Palace come close again, as Glenn Murray brings down a long ball and fires straight at John Ruddy.

Jason Puncheon shows his skills by making space down the right. He clips the ball to the back post whereWilfried Zahamanages to shape his body to send a side-footed volley towards goal. John Ruddy gets something on it but only pushes it into the net.

Palace are finding their way now, as Jordon Mutch gets enough space to put in a deep cross. But Wilfried Zaha can't bring it down.

At the other end Wes Hoolahan clips a ball into Bradley Johnson, who needs to be six inches taller to get a head on it.

Bradley Johnson, who scored 15 times from midfield for Norwich last season, let's fly from way. way out and it goes way, way over.

Glenn Murray is so close to giving Palace the lead. Joel Murray nods a ball back across goal, the Norwich defence go to sleep, and Murray pokes it at Ruddy from just three yards out.

There's then an agonising wait as the ball spins around the post.

Yohan Cabaye sends it straight into the arms of Norwich keeper John Ruddy though. Ruddy sends a long clearance to Lewis Grabban, who has Joel Ward tugging his shirt. The referee doesn't want to know, but the linesman is on the spot to award a free-kick.

Norwich's Alex Tettey is in the book for catching Pape Souare, who was coasting towards the Canaries byeline. Palace free-kick in a dangerous position in the left channel...

The result is a Norwich free-kick, which gives Robbie Brady his first chance at a set-piece about 20 yards out. He rifles it left-footed into the wall though.

Speaking of Cabaye, he's on the turf getting some treatment on his foot. The Frenchman went into a full-bloodied 50-50 with Norwich's Steven Whittaker. Both men are seen to be the physio.

Palace have yet to get a foothold at Carrow Road, which means we've not been able to see Yohan Cabaye do his thing in the middle of the park.

The Eagles try to build from the back, but Wilfried Zaha runs it out of play.

HITS THE WOODWORK

Oh it's a great chance for Norwich. Some lovely precision passing puts Steven Whittaker in down the right channel and Lewis Grabban, stretching every he can muster, can only toe it the wrong side of the post.

"If I was to put a bet on who will stay up it would be on Norwich. Watford and Bournemouth I fear for."

The referee today by the way is Simon Hooper, who officiated Norwich's opener against Wolves last season, and was shoved by Canaries defender Martin Olsson.

"Alan Pardew did a magnificent job to get Palace to 10th last season and this ambitious manager will hope for as good again this season.

"The signing of France international midfielder Yohan Cabaye from PSG is both a statement of intent and something of a gamble at £13m. He needs to come off but it was a move that sent optimism and hope soaring.

"With Patrick Bamford in from Chelsea and Connor Wickham signed at a slightly pricey £7m from Sunderland there may be firepower to add to the maverick gifts of the powerful Yannick Bolasie, who can be unstoppable on his day.

"Palace will not be in trouble but maybe just go a little easy on too much expectation."

"Norwich City produced one of the appointments of last season when 34-year-old manager Alex Neil came from Hamilton - guiding the Canaries to promotion brilliantly via a play-off final win against Middlesbrough.

"This remains such a well-run club and the sell-out notices will be out all season at Carrow Road. This may be a relegation tip but Norwich City could just gather enough momentum under a fiercely driven and ambitious manager to avoid the drop.

"Some shrewd summer signings such as Graham Dorrans and Youssouf Mulumbu from West Bromwich Albion will add experience while Robbie Brady impressed in a relegated Hull City side last season.

"Survival will be the aim and if they prove this prediction wrong I will be delighted for all at Carrow Road."
