Great intervention from Sebastian Coates - Cameron Jerome was almost in from an easy ball over the top. 

No sign of a home comeback so far. No sound of one either. It really is very quiet.

Here's how the goal was scored - just 40 seconds or so after Costel Pantilimon brilliantly tips one wide, he's at fault for the opener.

It was Robbie Brady's shot that Costel Pantilimon couldn't handle. He'll be sick about that one, and his next involvement is to mis-kick an easy clearance. 

Very quiet at the Stadium of Light. Jeremain Lens fires one from range and it is wayward.

The closest we've come to a goal though is this Norwich move. Lovely touch from Robbie Brady to lay it off to Jonny Howon on the break and Costel Pantilimon tips his effort wide.

Much, much better from Sunderland. 

All the impetus from this move comes from Yann M'Vila winning it in midfield. The Frenchman set Jermain Defoe in motion, but it all falls down when Steven Fletcher doesn't read the next pass. 

And now we've got the first touch for a man with gloves on. Jonny Howson gets his backheel on one but it's easily gathered by Costel Pantilimon. 

Sunderland play it quick up the pitch - Jermain Defoe is in... but it's offside. He looked set to bury that.

Cameron Jerome goes flying again! Beautiful arc, his technique is textbook. It's all in the arms.  

This time he does get the free-kick though. Robbie Brady's had plenty of efforts to get his eye in, but it still hits the wall.

We've had a shot! At least I think it was a shot. No real surprise it's come from Norwich. Wes Hoolahan's effort is blocked after Nathan Redmond picked Patrick van Aanholt's pocket.

Patrick van Aanholt isn't having a brilliant time of it either - for the second time in five minutes he fails to bring the ball down and it's out of play for a Norwich throw. 

The home fans let him know how they're feeling. You can probably guess how. 

Not a lot to cheer about for Sunderland just now, and it could be a lot worse as Jeremain Lens escapes a second yellow for a very late challenge indeed.

So far, Norwich are looking the more dangerous of the two. Cameron Jerome goes down like a swan - such grace - but fails to win a free-kick. 

Throw-in instead. The ball pops out to Robbie Brady but the £7m man's shot is wild and way over. 

Seb Larsson's hopeful shot from range is deflected - corner Sunderland. Pressure building? 

Larsson's delivery is again cleared, and now Jeremain Lens is in the book himself - for scything down Wes Hoolahan as the Norwich man looked to counter.

Here we go though! Yellow card for Sebastien Bassong - he totally cleaned out Jeremain Lens, who was scampering down the left wing.

Here's Norwich with the ball now though, played into Cameron Jerome's feet, who's backing in and is off balance as Lee Cattermole steals in. 

He was on Jerome like a flash. 

Two fouls in the first 15 seconds it seems like - Sunderland are well up for this! 

They're straight into Norwich from the start and win back possession. Advocaat's words ringing in their ears.
