And now Diego Costa does get involved! Stings the palms of Alex McCarthy from a tight angle, Cesc Fabregas is alive to the danger and smashes in the rebound but McCarthy is a wall in there to save again.

GOAL - Aston Villa 2-1 Sunderlandpublished at 15:40

    Scott Sinclair (41 mins)

Aston Villa have dominated Sunderland down the left flank today and they get their rewards when the impressive Idrissa Gueye puts the ball on a plate for Scott Sinclair to turn home a low cross from six yards out.

  9. Postpublished at 15:40

    Liverpool 0-2 West Ham

It's a dark art trying to second guess Mr. Garth Crooks - but Manuel Lanzini is walking into team of the week so far.

The West Ham midfielder is having a stormer, picking the ball up from deep and just running at Liverpool. He does Emre Can for pace easily and only just overruns the ball as he approaches the area.

Have West Ham unearthed one here?

    Pat Nevin
Ex-Scotland international on BBC Radio 5 live

"Chelsea have had so much of the ball but have tried to walk it in. They're up against a very organised Crystal Palace defence. Maybe they should be trying their hand from distance?"

  11. Postpublished at 15:39

    Stoke 0-0 West Brom

It's a good job nine-man Stoke have a decent keeper - Jack Butland is in for a busy afternoon now and he saves well from Rickie Lambert's long-range shot.

"Initially Charlie Adam tries to get his foot out of the way, but then he seems to take a stamp. I think that's why he's been sent off."

That'll bruise. Aston Villa skipper Micah Richards can't stop his slide and the momentum takes him on a collision course with the post. In the meat of his back. Ouch. But he's fine to continue.

    Man City 0-0 Watford

Chris Bevan is watching this match for us and he says Watford's lone striker Troy Deeney is practically a defensive midfielder today. They've come for a point.

Burnley have given a debut to record signing Andre Gray but lead 1-0 through a rare Ben Mee goal at Bristol City .

Kenwyne Jones has scored for the second game running to give unbeaten  Cardiff a 1-0 lead at Nottingham Forest .

Blackpool 's misery in League One is continuing as they trail 1-0 at home to in-form Walsall thanks to Romaine Sawyers' third goal of the season.

League Two leaders Leyton Orient lead fourth-placed Bristol Rovers 1-0 through a Lloyd James penalty as the O's look to extend their 100 per cent start to the season.

  17. PENALTY APPEALpublished at 15:35

    Bournemouth 1-0 Leicester

No response from Leicester, and in fact it's Bournemouth who have the next shouting point. Lee Tomlin is tripped just inside the box but the ref gives a free-kick.

    Controversial...

  18. Sunderland non-existent down the leftpublished at 15:34

    Aston Villa 1-1 Sunderland

I don't think Villa need to play with a right-back this afternoon. He might as well get the deckchair out.
