Got a ticket for the Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday? Hard luck if not because they are going to be like gold dust.

Will Sunday  6 September 2015 be the day Wales end 57 years of hurt and book a place at a major tournament for the first time since 1958?

Three games to go, one win required. Surely they can't mess up now.

It's a fantastic result. The performance wasn't really up to the standards we have set ourselves but sometimes you have to come to places like this and grind out a result. It's a phenomenal feeling."

  3. What else happened this evening then?published at 22:22

Well the big one is Netherlands losing 1-0 at home to Iceland. That shock defeat means they are now eight points behind the group leaders, while Czech Republic, in second, have a six-point cushion on the Dutch after their 2-1 victory over Kazakhstan.

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne was in fine form as Belgium beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 3-1 at home - they remain three points behind Wales in second, while Israel hammered Andorra 4-0 to stay third, five points behind Chris Coleman's men.

And in Group H Italy cut it fine but Southampton's Graziano Pelle got the winner in a 1-0 win over Malta that sees Antonio Conte's men leapfrog Croatia, who could only draw 0-0 in Azerbaijan.

The header is an amazing header. It was straight out of John Charles' soccer book, John Charles would have been proud of that."

Robbie Savage has been upsetting people on social media this evening - but not for reasons you might expect...

It's this quote that's got people going:

"I've said that man  but you could mix that with Batman because Gareth Bale has got superpowers as well."

The science fiction crowd is not one you want to upset, Robbie. Let's call it mitigating circumstances.

  10. 'Players were magnificent'published at 22:05

Wales manager Chris Coleman speaking to Sky Sports: "It was always going to be difficult, we knew what to expect. The pitch was woeful, it was hot and humid, and the opposition had nothing to lose.

"Expectations were on us. It wasn’t one of our better performances. But it is a huge three points. There was a lot of pressure on us and the players handled it magnificently."

  11. 'We are in a great position'published at 21:56

Wales goalscorer Gareth Bale speaking to Sky Sports: "I think it was more than tough but we were able to nick a goal that has put us in a great position.

"We knew the task coming into this game, we know what we have to do and we know what our capabilities are."

"There is camaraderie, there is unity, in this Wales team. As they were walking off the pitch there were 20 staff members lined up and as every one of the players went past each one. They were hugging each other and patting each other on the back.

"It is a unit, and Chris Coleman deserves a massive amount of credit. There is leadership from the back with Ashley Williams."

  13. 'We deserve to be in this position'published at 21:51

    Cyprus 0-1 Wales

Wales captain Ashley Williams speaking to Sky Sports: "I don't think we played as well as we have done. We had a game plan to keep it tight.

"It was very hot and Cyprus were bang up for it as we were. It was one of the more difficult games of campaign. We have earned the right to be in this position. Sunday is a chance to get the job done."

"Just looking back to Gareth Bale's goal, he had to generate all the power himself with his neck muscles - there was no pace on the cross at all. To generate that much power, from a tiny run, it was incredible.

"John Toshack could head a ball, but Gareth Bale's, that beats them all."

"Cyprus can be proud of their performance - they've played well, but they've been beaten by a good defensive display - and that goal from that man, Gareth Bale.

"I've said that man but you could mix that with Batman because he has got superpowers as well. What an occasion it could be on Sunday.

"Wales have now got an opportunity to get to a major international tournament for the first time since 1958."
