    Jon Walters (69 mins)

Take a bow Jeff Hendrick! Brilliant, brilliant play from the Derby man ignites a game which was threatening to peter out. He beats one man on the left, comes inside, nutmegs another, goes around another and then puts it on a plate for Jon Walters, a yard out. He tackles the ball home and the hosts are ahead.

Party time in Dublin! Well, it always is. But more reason!

Tom Unter: Scotland tonight are like that kid at school that would work so hard only to be bested by someone with half the effort.

Connor McMeekin: When you can't watch your country in their heroic attempt to qualify for the Euros you can feel stuck anywhere!

Max Baggins-Craig: So far am bored, frustrated & drained (not jus cos I've ran out of beer). Hopefully some subs will do something.

    Northern Ireland 0-0 Hungary

Zoltan Gera's legs may be going but he can still whack a ball. Brilliant strike from 25 yards, plenty of swerve and dip on it and it flies just wide.

    Scotland 2-3 Germany

Germany have got plenty in the tank, don't you worry about that. Mesut Ozil and Thomas Muller are involved again, neat play, the lay-off is into the arc of Bastian Schweinsteiger and he thumps a drive at goal. Dave Marshall watches it all the way and fists over the top.

"Scotland are working hard. Shaun Maloney has been taken off but it is probably too late. He was probably at fault for the last two goals, he had nothing in the tank and should have been taken off at half time."

    Republic of Ireland 0-0 Georgia

The Stoke connection almost does the job. Glenn Whelan's shot is going wide until Jon Walters feathers on a header, but Nukri Revishvili gets down smartly to save at the post.

Lovely play from first Oliver Norwood and then Steven Davis in midfield threatens to open up the Hungarians but in a scene seen all too often tonight, the final pass is just not there.

In a scene which mirrors that in Belfast, the hosts in green are dominant against opposition in red, but can't score.

Looks like a pair of 0-0s with half an hour to go. Anyone find the breakthrough?

Ah, thanks for that one David. The old head-to-head rule melting my brain again.

And that's the third person saying they're 'stuck' somewhere lovely abroad. Leave it out!

You get stuck in Basingstoke, or Goole. Not Palermo and Barcelona.

David Nicholas: Northern Ire. wouldn't need a win if they draw tonight. 2 draws would suffice, since they'd win the head-to-head vs. Hungary.

Paul Vance: Stuck in Palermo. Nowhere showing the game. Relying on god old BBC. Spirit of '82!

A peach of a goal puts Germany ahead for the third time. Thomas Muller adds an assist to his two goals as he plays a deft reverse pass back to Ilkay Gundogan, and the Dortmund man cleverly steers left-footed int off the base of the post. Clinical. Quality.
