Despite the fact that we have played against them twice already, the context of the game will help us more than the previous two. We'll be fresher with more good training sessions under our belt while, on the other hand, Athletic are coming off a demanding and important game.

Barcelona no longer have Pedro and Xavi and can't register new players until January because of a transfer ban. They have conceded nine goals in their three games so far.

So are they favourites for the title or will Real Madrid take the crown this season despite not signing any new superstars? Is Rafa Benitez the man for the capital side?

Or are Atletico Madrid contenders again after several smart summer signings?

Barcelona go with Rafinha up front alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez with Neymar out. The Brazilian superstar has recovered from mumps but isn't quite ready to return yet. Thomas Vermaelen gets a start at the back.

Athletic beat Azerbaijani side Inter Baku2-0 on aggregate in the Europa League third qualifying round.

But after their Spanish Super Cup heroics, they came back down to earth with a 3-2 defeat in Slovakia by Zilina in the Europa League play-off first leg.

That was on Thursday night so they've had less than three days to get back to the Basque country and prepare for this game.

After a frankly ridiculous 5-4 extra-time win over Sevilla in the European Super Cup in Georgia, Barca might have expected business as usual once they returned to Spain.

But instead Aritz Aduriz scored a hat-trick as Athletic thrashed them 4-0 at San Mames nine days ago before completing the job with a 1-1 draw at the Nou Camp on Monday.

In 38 La Liga games last season they only conceded 21 goals.
