  1. Nev's new challenge begins...published at 19:10

    Valencia v Lyon (19:45 GMT)

    Gary Neville

Nothing like a pressure-free start to life at a new club, in a new country, with a new language and new players and a new role - manager - for the first time. Gary Neville has it easy - win or bust in the Champions League.

"It is impossible for me to play down expectation," said the new Valencia boss ahead of their fixture with Lyon. "There's no point in low ambition, I wouldn't be here. I'm focusing on staying calm, doing the work withe the players. It's impossible to get everything into the players in 48 hours."

Valencia will reach the round of 16 if they win and Gent fail to beat group leaders Zenit in Belgium.

  3. Votepublished at 19:06

It is hard to remember a time when Arsene Wenger wasn't in charge of Arsenal but if they go out of the Champions League tonight, the pressure on him would crank up a notch.

Jose Mourinho is already a man under pressure, but who do you think will last the longest in their current jobs - Wenger or Mourinho?

Briefly away from the Champions League and the big news in football earlier today was the departure of Garry Monk from Swansea.

Less than three months ago Monk wasreportedly on an FA shortlist to be the next England manager., external

Monk's fall from grace has been remarkable and you can listen to Mark Chapman, Mark Lawrenson and John Murray debate his dismissal from 19:00 GMT on BBC Radio 5 live.

"I think this is a massive ask for Arsenal. Possibly their biggest in the years in which they've played at this stage. If Olympiakos get a 2-1 defeat and go through. They can sit deep and say 'go on then try and beat us'. From their point of view it's easy. Arsenal have to go for it, with the caveat that you can't go 1-0 down."

    Olympiakos v Arsenal (19:45 GMT)

Strong Arsenal side as Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott both start. That, I believe, is the first time this season they have both started in the same match.

Giroud looks to be playing as a lone striker, with Mesut Ozil, Walcott and Joel Campbell behind.

Arsenal XI: Cech; Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal; Ramsey, Flamini; Ozil, Walcott, Campbell; Giroud.

"Costa has to be playing for his Chelsea future. He just hasn't done enough. Also, what has happened to Fabrega? He seems to have lost half a yard and doesn't seem to be able to get into positions to help the team."

Tonight we are asking you what your manager would doodle in a news conference to pass the time when facing questions.

Philip Harr has made us all laugh already, referencing ex-Leicester manager Nigel Pearson who you may recall called journalist Ian Baker "an Ostrich" during a news conference last season.

"If you don't know the answer to that question, then I think you are an ostrich. Your head must be in the sand. Is your head in the sand? Are you flexible enough to get your head in the sand? My suspicion would be 'no'."

    Anyone else miss Nigel?

    Chelsea v Porto (19:45 GMT)

Last season tonight would have been a banker of a home win for this Chelsea team. But tonight....?

Jose Mourinho has brought back the big names, making four changes from the side which started Saturday's shock 1-0 home defeat by Bournemouth.

Skipper John Terry returns from injury to replace Gary Cahill at centre-back, while Cesar Azpilicueta is preferred to Baba Rahman at left-back.

Ramires starts in midfield as Cesc Fabregas drops to the bench, while Diego Costa steps up in place of Pedro.

  12. What Chelsea needpublished at 18:50

Chelsea v FC Porto (19:45 GMT)

    Group GImage source, .

Whoever wins in the game between Chelsea and Porto will top  Group G.

Dynamo Kiev - who face Maccabi Tel Aviv - will be sure of a place in the last 16 with a win thanks to a superior head-to-head record against Porto.

If Kiev win and Chelsea and Porto draw, all three teams will finish on 11 points. Their fate would then be decided by their three-way head-to-head record - with their group results against each other converted into a mini-league - and it would be Porto who finish third and head into the Europa League.

If Chelsea lose and Kiev win, the Blues are out.

Chelsea may just need a point, but that is far from a certainty given their form this season.

Jose Mourinho's side are 14th in the Premier League and out of the League Cup, and really need Champions League success to rescue a miserable season.

However, they lost at home to Bournemouth last-time out and there have been reports that, external Mourinho could be sacked if the Blues lose their next two games, starting with Porto tonight.

    The pressure is on.

  16. Spaceship, or Wenger's cunning plan?published at 18:40

    Arsene WengerImage source, Daily Express

Think this is just a mindless doodle? Think again for this could actually be a revealing look at the inner workings of Arsene Wenger's mind.

The Arsenal boss left the above scrawling on his notepad after speaking to the media in his pre-Olympiakos news conference on Tuesday.

"At first glance it looks like a spaceship - that suggests very big thinking. A significant issue," Elaine Quigley of the British Institute of Graphologists with a special interest in doodles, told the Daily Express.

“Certainly the four circles are significant – he clearly feels there are four key areas to this game."

Fascinating. Almost as fascinating as the revelation that there are people who specialise in doodles.

Arsenal can qualify in second place with a better head-to-head record than Olympiakos.

They need a win in Athens that 'beats' Olympiakos' 3-2 win in London in September.

Basically any win apart from 1-0 or 2-1 will see Wenger's boys through.

If you thought last night was a big night of Champions League football, then tonight has the potential to be even bigger.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea are in action, against Olympiakos and Porto respectively, and both need positive results to be able to secure their place in the last 16.

A point at home to Porto will do the job for Chelsea, but Arsenal's task is a little trickier...
