Five minutes until kick-off at a sun-kissed Britannia Stadium. It might be a bit gloomier later if the home side don't get a win.

If Stoke fail to win, it will be the first time they have failed to record a victory from their opening seven matches of a top-flight season for the first time since 1973-74.

  2. Have we met before?published at 14:53

BBC Sport's Mark Mitchener at the Britannia Stadium: "Stoke manager Mark Hughes locked horns with Bournemouth a quarter of a century ago, when he scored for Manchester United in a fifth-round FA Cup tie at Dean Court in 1989, which finished 1-1 before United won the replay 1-0.

"But his second match as a club manager, having left Wales to take over at Blackburn in 2004, finished with Bournemouth prevailing in a League Cup penalty shootout at Ewood Park after a 3-3 draw.

"Who scored the Cherries' winning penalty? Hughes's opposite number in the dug-out today, Eddie Howe."

"Bournemouth play high intensity football without the ball and keep the ball well. Eddie Howe has adapted it over the years. It’s nice that they can play the same way in the Championship and Premier League. They will score goals."

  5. Cherries search for a rare win at Stokepublished at 14:45

BBC Sport's Mark Mitchener at the Britannia Stadium: "Stoke's search for a first league win pits them against Bournemouth, who have only won once in 12 visits to Stoke, a 3-1 success at the old Victoria Ground in 1991 when Luther Blissett was leading the line for the visitors.

"And in their last four trips to the Britannia Stadium (all defeats), the Cherries' misfortunes have included an own goal, a goalkeeper sent off, and three different players (Steve Robinson, Richard Hughes and Warren Feeney) missing penalties in three successive seasons. Time for a change of luck?"

  6. Walters keeps his placepublished at 14:43

Peter Crouch scored to give Stoke victory over Fulham in the League Cup last time out but Mark Hughes has kept faith with Jon Walters as the focal point of the Potters' attack.

Walters scored in last week's 2-2 draw with Leicester and Hughes said: "Jon Walters was excellent last week against Leicester and deserved to stay in the team.

"For the most part, I’ve been pleased with what we’ve produced but we want to play winning football.

"A first win would calm everybody down. We know we’re a good side at this level. It’s a good opportunity to get the win we’re looking for."

  8. Van Ginkel misses outpublished at 14:38

BBC Sport's Mark Mitchener at the Britannia Stadium: "Stoke manager Mark Hughes yesterday dismissed any suggestions that he is under any kind of financial pressure, external to play Chelsea loanee Marco van Ginkel in every game.

"The Dutchman started each of the Potters' first six league games but drops to the bench today, with Charlie Adam returning in midfield after completing a suspension.

"Bournemouth revert to the same XI from last week's win over Sunderland, making nine changes from their League Cup XI."

  10. Hughes: We are a good sidepublished at 14:36

    Stoke v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

Stoke's sticky start has not altered manager Mark Hughes's confidence in his troops.

Hughes said: "In my first season here we went six games without a win, and even eight games too, and still finished in ninth position.

"We know that we are a good side at this level, and ideally we will get the points on the board that we merit."

  11. Stoke still strugglingpublished at 14:30

    Stoke v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

It doesn't seem a week ago that we were talking about Stoke's sloppy start to the season.

The Potters haven't won a match yet and their return of three points is their lowest after six matches in the Premier League.

Mark Hughes's team were 2-0 up against Leicester City seven days ago but the Foxes battled back to earn a point.

Can Stoke end their search for a victory against promoted Bournemouth today?
