Tottenham's centre-back pairing of Belgium internationals Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen has been instrumental in theirfantastic start to the Premier League season, believes former Scotland winger Pat Nevin.
“Mauricio Pochettino has developed the Spurs players and the ones who have not been doing it have been jettisoned," he told 5 live Sport on Friday.
"The key is the centre-back pairing of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen – Spurs have not had that right for a long time. With Eric Dier in front of them, it looks a bit special.”

Jonathan Pearce
BBC football commentator at The Hawthorns
"Tottenham are enjoying their longest ever unbeaten Premier League run. They're unbeaten in five visits to The Hawthorns and the 'Hurri-Kane' is blowing strongly again.
"Spurs will start as red-hot favourites but West Brom are showing enough resilience to suggest they've fully bought into the Tony Pulis recipe for survival.
"They won't boss possession. They will try to shackle Dele Alli and starve Harry Kane of supplies. Spurs looked jaded against Chelsea. They might have to settle for a draw here."
Yellow card for 'Hurri-Kane', Jonathan.
