    Mark Lawrenson
Former Liverpool defender at Goodison Park for 5 live Sport

"We owe a massive amount to Jimmy Hill. Three points for a win is one of his legacies. He made so many appearances on Match of the Day, and I worked with him loads.

"He was a funny man, very clever. A great fella and a massive, massive influence.

"Today’s players should have a lot of thanks for what Jimmy Hill did in football. What a top bloke he was."

"They [Manchester United] look like a group of players not happy with the way they’re playing, the direction they’re being led in. Each manager looks at each team differently.

"At Spurs, Juande Ramos said he’d free me up and not to worry about defensive play and I loved it. But Harry Redknapp came in and he wanted me to have more of a responsible role and hold back.

"Louis van Gaal has the reins on them too much. They look like they’re doing what they’re told – his methods almost guarantee that you’ll get OK results – but they’re not enjoying that or getting the best out of each individual."

    Tony PulisImage source, Reuters

"While, clearly, Tony Pulis incurred the wrath of Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp for West Brom's reliance on 'long balls' last Sunday, the Baggies' manager is rightly concentrating on his primary task - keeping the club in the Premier League.

"I wonder if he looks on with a little envy at the contrast in views displayed towards Eddie Howe. I never hear a word of criticism about the Bournemouth boss who clearly decided promotion wasn't an excuse to ditch the attractive principles underlying their football.

"Whether in defeat or, recently, in those victories at Chelsea and against Manchester United, the Cherries are a joy to watch. Is it conceivable, in this 'daft' season, they can win a third consecutive game?"

    League Two

Northampton fans have been on a rollercoaster of emotion so far this season. Having avoided folding entirely, the club are now top of League Two. However, today they face a tough test courtesy of a visit from fourth-placed Portsmouth, who are proving a tough nut to crack this season. Second-placed Oxford and Plymouth, who are third, will be hoping to usurp the Cobblers at the top. They are at Wycombe and Hartlepool, respectively.

York and Yeovil are both on 12 points at the bottom of the table. The former face Morecambe at Bootham Crescent, while the latter are at play-off chasing Leyton Orient. Dagenham and Redbridge are just a point above the duo and host Bristol Rovers.

Elsewhere, Barnet take on Crawley, Cambridge host Mansfield, Carlisle face Notts County, Luton are at Exeter, Newport host AFC Wimbledon and Stevenage play Accrington.
