    Some sad football news to bring you. Jimmy Hill, one of English football's most influential figures, has died aged 87.

    As chairman of the Professional Footballers' Association, he led the campaign for the scrapping of maximum wages for professional footballers.

    The former Match of the Day presenter made more than 600 appearances on the programme.

    His other numerous roles in football included player, manager, chairman and analyst.

    Friday: Birmingham 1-0 Cardiff

    Friday's only Championship game saw Birmingham beat Cardiff 1-0 with a controversial penalty.

    Matthew Connolly had a handball decision given against him, despite television replays appearing to show the ball hitting him in the face rather than on his arm.

    Paul Caddis showed no compassion and tucked away what proved to be the winner from 12 yards.

    Blues are up to seventh in the table after winning at home for the first time in two months.
