  3. Post update

    Everton 2-1 Manchester City

Everton keep coming forward. The impressive Muhamed Besic has a shot deflected and straight at Willy Caballero.

1-0 to City at Etihad would do the Mancunians though.

  5. Everton's perfect response

    Phil McNulty

BBC Sport chief football writer at Goodison Park

Everton could have sunk after that sucker punch from Manchester City but the response was instant.

Gareth Barry has rolled back the years against his former club tonight and he served that on a plate for Romelu Lukaku.

  8. SUBSTITUTION

    Everton 2-1 Manchester City

Don't forget though Manchester City do have an away goal - this counts after extra time in the second leg.

There is still a long way to go.

Romelu Lukaku was struggling with an ankle injury as he headed home his goal and he can't carry on. He is replaced by Arouna Kone up top.

  9. 'Absolutely fantastic'

    Everton 2-1 Manchester City

    Danny Mills

BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"Brilliant ball in from Gareth Barry. A delightful cross, floated in perfectly. Lukaku, this time, kept himself onside. It was absolutely fantastic."

  10. GOAL - Everton 2-1 Manchester City

    Romelu Lukaku (78 mins)

    Incredible stuff.

Gareth Barry has the ball on the left and his inviting cross is asking to be headed home.

Romelu Lukaku duly obliges. He can't miss from yards out.

  11. GOAL - Everton 1-1 Manchester City

    Jesus Navas (76 mins)

    Now that's a counter attack.

From the clearance, Sergio Aguero shows a deft touch to take the ball down, before driving towards Everton's goal.

He shows great vision as he slips the ball behind the defence to the marauding Jesus Navas and the Spaniard coolly flicks the ball into the net.

    Lightning stuff.

Danny Mills on BBC Radio 5 live: "Brilliant touch from Aguero on the halfway line as the ball was cleared. Poor defending you have to say from Mirallas. Navas, whose finishing hasn't been brilliant, slots the ball into the back of the net. It'll be interesting to see Everton's attitude now."

  12. Post update

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

    Everton have been brilliant.

They keep pushing forward and only a brave header from Bacary Sagna keeps Romelu Lukaku away from heading home.

Another Everton corner .... It's cleared.

  13. Post update

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

Yaya Toure is lining up a 30 yarder...

No he isn't. Kevin de Bruyne hits the free kick instead and it is slap, bang at the Everton wall.

    Into the last 20.

  14. GREAT SAVE!

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

Great one-two between Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero, before the former sees a curling low shot from 20 yards well turned away by Joel Robles.

Jesus Navas is still upset he didn't get a penalty after tumbling inside the penalty area in the previous attack.

    Sergio Aguero
  15. CLOSE!

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

Leighton Baines whips the ball in from the left and that is great defending by Martin Demichelis, who diverts the ball away from the waiting Romelu Lukaku.

  16. SUBSTITUTION

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

A bit more solidity for Everton.

Gerard Deulofeu gets a deserved ovation from the home fans as he is replaced by Kevin Mirallas.

Fresh legs as he takes the vacant slot in right midfield.

  17. 'It's all about attitude'

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

    Danny Mills

BBC Radio 5 live at Goodison Park

"Apart from that one shot from Aguero, I can't remember a save Robles has had to make. It's beeen a very comfortable evening for him so far. It's all about attitude this evening and Everton's attitutde has been much better than Manchester City's up until now."

Francis Edwards: Is this really the best money can buy? City spent so much. When they meet Bayern or Barca in the UCL they will be torn apart.

  19. CLOSE!

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

Ross Barkley is strong. Nicolas Otamendi isn't,

The Everton midfielder leaves the defender on his backside as he races in on goal down the left side.

With Romelu Lukaku begging for the pull back, Barkley cuts inside and has a fierce strike turned away by Willy Caballero.

    Ross Barkley
  20. CLOSE!

    Everton 1-0 Manchester City

A sign of City coming back into it?

Fernandinho towers about Everton's defence but can only head down and into the hands of Joel Robles.

Two good chances within a couple of minutes.
