Leicester go one point - rather than three - clear at the top overnight. Villa pick up a point in their relegation battle, but is that enough? They are nine off 17th place.
Villa bring on Scott Sinclair for Jordan Ayew. He probably won't touch it.
A woeful free-kick is headed straight clear. Seconds left.
Villa have a free-kick after Christian Fuchs pulls down Libor Kozak. Big men coming forward.
Jonas Okore loses the ball for Villa and Leicester counter but luckily for the hosts they overplay it and lose possession.
They've both been on for about 20 minutes, but Villa's Rudy Gestede (left) has made a much bigger contribution than Leicester's Leonardo Ulloa (right) when you compare their touches.
As we enter five minutes of injury time, Jamie Vardy wastes a good chance to win the game.
Danny Drinkwater plays it in for Vardy to chase onto, the striker takes a touch and then fires over from an angle.
Again, December Jamie Vardy scores that.
Villa break at pace...and then they just slow down. Leicester defenders can get back and Villa lose the ball.
Awful. A team very short on confidence in their own ability.
Will Claudio Ranieri regret his decision to take Shinji Okazaki and Riyad Mahrez off at 1-0?
Demarai Gray is rapid, by the way, Leicester need to get him on the ball.
And now Villa have a half chance to win it, Rudy Gestede flicks a ball on with his head and Libor Kozak, instead of trying to head it, attempts to flick it in. It goes over.
On BBC Radio Leicester, Matt Elliott has been shown our colourful picture of him from 72mins...
"Ah, that was pre-season. I remember that. A bit of claret - slapped a bit of Vaseline on and I was good to go!"
Leicester City bring off Marc Albrighton, once of Villa, and on comes Demarai Gray - a recent signing off Birmingham. Boos from the home support.
Jamie Vardy and Leandro Bacuna both go into the book. Bacuna shoved Vardy from behind, the Leicester striker responded and then half the teams got involved.
Both sets of players have clashed in the corner of the pitch (near Villa's goal). Referee has a decision to make. Is anyone getting booked?
A Villa win here could really give them hope in their relegation battle and they're going for it now. Libor Kozak tries to get onto a ball but he's offside.
A long ball comes forward and hits Jamie Vardy on the back.
Villa break but Libor Kozak makes a bit of a mess of it on the right and they lose the ball.
As things stand Leicester are top by one point and Villa are nine points off Newcastle, who occupy the final safe slot.
Villa actually kept the ball well in the build-up to that goal.
But there's no doubt Rudy Gestede (39) gets a sack full of luck as it bounces off his hand and then Robert Huth (6) before coming back to him.
That's Rudy Gestede's fifth goal for Aston Villa - but his first Premier League strike at Villa Park.
Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester
Matt Elliott
Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio Leicester
"You have to say, that Villa goal was on its way. The pressure applied by the introduction of Gestede resulted in a scrap, a scramble, on the edge of the box.
"It was probably a handball, but after that he struck the ball so well and it was past Schmeichel.
"Leicester have taken their foot off the gas here, and they have paid the price. It will interesting to see how this game turns now..."
