  2. 'A good reaction'published at 19:57

    Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde, speaking to Sky Sports: "In the first half we were not the same level as Tuesday against Crystal Palace, but the second half was much better.

"We had a good reaction. We were behind the leader and when you come back to draw it is very positive for the bottom team. We were more aggressive, more positive and more attacking as well. If you look at the level of the game between the teams there was not the huge gap you can see on the table.

"We were not very fortunate also. I don’t understand how the linesman can see the first penalty but not the second. I saw it on the TV it was obvious for me and probably for everybody."

Villa goalscorer Rudy Gestede: "We are a bit disappointed - we know we have to win games now, but we take the one point. It’s still OK.

"It keeps the momentum going, Leicester are a good team, but the next one is very important.

"We have to keep this confidence. It will be tough but we have no choice but to fight."

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde says he has not received a bid for Joleon Lescott, who has been linked to LA Galaxy, and does not expect him to leave.

More from Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri, speaking to BBC Sport: "Our next target is 40 more points. We achieved 39 in the first half of the season, and we want to improve. I know it is very difficult and ambitious but why not?"

On Riyad Mahrez, who missed a penalty: "Mahrez is our penalty scorer. He lost the last two but for me it is important now how he reacts. You can make mistakes but your reaction is important. You want to do your best."

  8. 'One point is OK'published at 19:47

    Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri, speaking to BBC Sport: "We started very well. Maybe Aston Villa were nervous at the beginning, we scored a goal and had the chance to close the match but we missed the penalty and Aston Villa was regenerated.

"The second half was a big battle and we were unlucky to concede because the striker touched the ball with his hands and the referee didn't see it.

"It was a pity because we were in control. Of course, they tried to push but there was no clear action from them, and we missed two chances on the counter, but that is football. We take one point, it’s OK."

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is talking to BBC Match of the Day's Jonathan Pearce now.

He thinks Rudy Gestede's goal should have been ruled out for handball.

  11. 'Shows how far we've come'published at 19:39

    Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester

Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater, speaking to Sky Sports: "In the first half we were the better side, in the second half we tried more on the counter I guess, but I still think we deserved the three points. But Villa came out and battled, so fair play to them.

"Look where we are in the league, it's a massive achievement already. That we're disappointed with a draw at Villa shows how far we have come. If we can stay around the top of the table now then we will have achieved a massive goal."

"Two points dropped by Leicester. They were in the ascendancy, had the opportunities to win the game, failed to convert them and paid the price."

  13. Postpublished at 19:34

I might have said Opta told us Villa have been top for 33 days. That was all me...

They of course told me that Leicester have done that.

  14. 'Leicester didn't capitalise'published at 19:33

    Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester

    Matt Elliott
Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio Leicester

"Aston Villa looked very out-of-sorts early on, which makes it particularly frustrating that Leicester didn't capitalise.

"As the game went on Villa started to have a go. So they should, for their fans."

  15. 'We deserved better'published at 19:30

Aston Villa forward Rudy Gestede, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we deserve better than a point. They had one good chance, and we a few. We are a bit disappointed - we know we have to win games now, but we take the one point. It’s still OK.

"It keeps the momentum going, Leicester are a good team, but the next one is very important. We have to keep this confidence. It will be tough but we have no choice but to fight."

  16. Postpublished at 19:29

That's four points in a few days for Aston Villa - do they still have a chance of survival? A week ago they looked totally gone but teams have clawed back nine points before.

  17. 'A second goal would have killed off Villa'published at 19:27

    Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester

    Matt Elliott
Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio Leicester

"Missed penalties happen. Mahrez is a man in form, but he has missed three spot-kicks this season and perhaps it's someone else's turn.

"Mahrez does have a languid-looking approach, and it can be frustrating. A second goal would have killed off Villa. That goes in and it's three points to the Foxes."

  18. Postpublished at 19:27

Opta tell us "Leicester have now been top of the Premier League table for 33 days this season, the same number of days that Spurs have been top of the Premier League table since its inception in 1992 (based on end of days)".

End of days meaning at the end of a day I think, rather than Armageddon.

  19. 'Villa are still a long way away from safety'published at 19:26

    Aston Villa 1-1 Leicester

    Matt Elliott
Former Leicester City captain on BBC Radio Leicester

"Of the two teams, the result is more pleasing and more useful for Leicester. It can't be disappointing when a result takes you top of the Premier League!

"They will rue a missed opportunity here, but Villa are still a long way away from safety. A draw serves very little purpose for them."

  20. Postpublished at 19:24

And with that point, it now means Aston Villa cannot finish as the worst team in Premier League history. Their 12 eclipses Derby's 11 from 2007-08.
