  1. Post update

    Norwich 0-0 Liverpool

Quite start to the game, with neither side getting anywhere close to worrying either goalkeeper.

The eagled eyed amongst you may have noticed that Wes Hoolan was, according to our team news graphic, playing in an unfamiliar role of defensive midfielder. Unsurprisingly that is not where he is playing, instead he is part of a three just behind Dieumerci Mbokani.

  3. KICK-OFF

    Norwich 0-0 Liverpool

Norwich get things up and running at a gloriously sunny Carrow Road.

  4. 'Goals, workrate and quality'

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

    Kevin Kilbane

    Ex-Everton winger on Football Focus

"Steven Naismith has an incredible work ethic to his game. You only need to look at Twitter this week to see the appreciation Everton as a club have for him.

"This season he has scored goals including a brilliant hat-trick against Chelsea. He will bring Norwich more than goals and desire, he has that quality as well."

  5. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

The players are out on the pitch and an especially loud cheer goes up to greet Norwich's new signings Steven Naismith and Ivo Pinto.

  6. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to BT Sport: "Generally we could use a few results. We need to keep the good things, change the bad things. That is the challenge for today and that is what we will try to do.

"After Man Utd game everyone asked me about the Benteke situation but Firmino scored goals against Arsenal. I have to make decisions, this is the decision I made today."

  7. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

Norwich boss Alex Neil, speaking to BT Sport: "We have been desperate to stay in the league since the start of the season. We would have liked to have strengthened more last summer, but we have done it now.

"Steven Naismith is experienced in the Premier League, so it is not a concern putting him in."

  8. Norwich down the Kop

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

    Bill Shankly

Liverpool fans will remember the last time Norwich beat them. It may even be a fond memory.

In April 1994 The Kop played out its final match as an all-standing enclosure.

Ahead of the game, the Reds paraded legends who had played in front of the famous structure as one of English football's most famous landmarks would be changed forever.

Jeremy Goss volleyed the only goal of the game at the Kop End as Norwich ruined the party with a 1-0 win. In 22 years since, they've not beaten Liverpool.

  9. Half-and-half scarf dilemma

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

Just watching a Norwich fan in the stands at Carrow Road look ever so slightly confused by his half-and-half scarf.

He's faffing about with the Liverpool part of it, seemingly not too happy that the way it is positioned means the Reds' name is more visible than the Norwich name.

Now, call me radical, but I've got a solution to this chap's quandary. Don't buy a half-and-half scarf.

Can you do better than Ice Cube? This week's guest on Lawro's predictions may know his way around the mean streets of Compton but he doesn't know his Arsenal from his elbow.

  12. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

It's a sunny, but cold day in Norwich, the city no doubt celebrating the great news that the pedestrianisation of the city is under way...

    ..this chap won't be happy.

  13. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

    Luis Suarez

Regardless of who might have been a better option up front for Liverpool today, the Reds do love a goal or two against Norwich.

They've knocked in 22 in their last six games, although Luis Suarez helped himself to a fair chunk of those.

  14. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

I've just heard that Norwich have conceded the most goals from crosses in the Premier League this season, so surely this would be a prime game to stick Christian Benteke in attack?

Not so for Jurgen Klopp, who instead has opted for Roberto Firmino. The Brazilian bagged a brace against Arsenal earlier this month.

  17. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

    Steve Wilson

BBC Match of the Day commentator

"Norwich have done some good business this week, buying Swiss international defender Timm Klose from Wolfsburg and that ultimate pro Steven Naismith from Everton.

"Alex Neil's side are decent at home, taking 11 points from their last five games at Carrow Road; just as well, as they have earned only three points from their last eight away."

  18. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

It has been a busy start to the year for Norwich who, as well as signing Steven Naismith and Ivo Pinto, also brought in Swiss defender Timm Klose, who joined the club from Wolfsburg this week. He's on the bench today.

  19. Good addition

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

    John Hartson

Former Wales striker on BBC Radio 5 live

"Steven Naismith will bring quality to Norwich and he makes things happen. He is a flair player, bubbly, his enthusiasm will rub off on others too."

    Steven Naismith
  20. Post update

    Norwich v Liverpool (12:45 GMT)

    Naismith

So former Everton man Steven Naismith makes his Norwich debut against the team that for years was a fierce rival.

I know I said I wouldn't bang on about the past, but interestingly Naismith bagged his first Everton goal in the Premier League against Liverpool.

    History to repeat?
