Horrible defending from PSG but salvation for John Obi Mikel.

A corner comes in from the right, Diego Costa flicks it on and the ball falls to an unmarked Mikel, who takes it down and fires home from close range.

His sixth goal in 10 years...

After giving away the free-kick that led to PSG's opener - that deflected off him - he needed that.

    Benfica 0-0 Zenit St-Petersburg

Benfica defenders Almeida and Jardel have been booked and both will miss the return leg in Russia, which could make it tough if their side manages to get a lead to hold onto.

The second offence gives Hulk a shooting chance but the former Porto forward skids his long-range free-kick wide.

Simon Groves: You can't turn your back in the wall. Man up mikel!

Sam Kier: Mikel gives away the free-kick and then turns his back on the shot for the deflection... not Champions League quality!!

Ibrahim Al-hariri: Mikel gives away unnecessary free kick and deflects ball in to his own net. Poor all round.

    Not this time.

Willian looks to curl the ball beyond the wall but he hits David Luiz's head and it goes for a corner, which is cleared.

A chance to hit back. Dancing stuff from Eden Hazard and Willian is chopped by Thiago Silva on the edge of the penalty area.

Free-kick 20 yards out and Willian is stepping up...

"Zlatan Ibrahimovic has had a bit of good fortune. I think he had one thing in his mind to hit it with power and it has hit Mikel in the wall which sent it to the left of Courtois.

"The goalie had it covered but with a little bit of fortune that is what happens.

"Chelsea have been playing well and done a good job so far and have to continue."

Told you it was a chance...

Zlatan Ibrahimovic takes a few steps back before drilling the ball goal wards.

It deflects off the boot of John Obi Mikel and leaves goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wrong footed.

    His 46th Champions League goal.

    Hold on to your hats.

PSG have a free-kick dead central and just 20 yards out.

Lucas drives through Chelsea's midfield and is tripped by John Obi Mikel. A yellow.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is lining this one up...

Half an hour gone in the Portuguese capital and entertainment remains sparse.

To be charitable, neither side wants to over-commit at this stage of the opening leg.

But wait...a long-range strike from Benfica's Jonas is deflected just wide with the first serious goal threat.

"Eden Hazard looks like his has his appetite back tonight, he looks very sharp.

"That was a golden opportunity for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, it was as good as Diego Costa's, it should have been a goal.

"I do not think Zlatan enjoys playing against English teams, I think that is why he has never come to England he does not like the way English teams play."

    He is human.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, so often capable of the brilliant, produces a woeful finish.

Lucas's right-wing cross picks him out unmarked eight yards from goal but he mistimes his jump and weakly heads the ball into the ground and into Thibaut Courtois's arms.

    Sunday League stuff from Zlatan.

Eden Hazard reaches the bye line and sends a cross deep to the par post.

Branislav Ivanovic takes it down but strikes against the side-netting from an impossible angle.

The place to go for goals tonight is Spotland where relegation-threatened Crewe have hit back from a 2-0 deficit to level their match with Rochdale at 2-2.
