Lovely pass by Roberto Firmino finds Alberto Moreno who gets behind the Sunderland defence and pings the ball across the six-yard area. Once again, no red shirts in place to tap it home.

No sign of Daniel Sturridge coming on for Liverpool in a game badly lacking in quality and entertainment. Sunderland have started the second half with purpose while the hosts, once again, are slow out of the traps.

We're back under way. Let's hope and pray the second half is better than the first 45 minutes.

Liverpool's style of play isn't popular with you lot...

Jihaad Khan-Wadallee: Same old story with Liverpool. Sideways passing, looking out of thoughts. No urgency and no cutting edge. Poor.

S Vieira: Liverpool are so, so bad at passing. It's absolutely woeful. Every pass, all over the pitch. Sometimes it's unbearable.

Eston Kimaswoch: It is infuriating watching this Liverpool.  No spark, no tempo, no rhythm, no intensity, no quality,no guile, no creativity. So depressing.

The less said about this...the better.

Patrick van Aanholt almost slices into his own net while attempting to clearAdam Lallan's cross. 

Yet more injury woe for Liverpool. Joe Allen, recalled to the team, hobbles off after a knock and is replaced by Jordon Ibe. This will be doing Jurgen Klopp's health no good at all.

Shocking miss by Alberto Moreno who heads over from six yards following Adam Lallana's clever cross. Moments earlier Roberto Firmino collects the ball 25 yards from goal and has a blast - it's well over. 

Liverpool about to make it three-and-a-half games without a goal. They haven't led at half-time in a Premier League match since beating Manchester City on 21 November.

Five minutes left in a first half void of any entertainment. That's five minutes too long.

Mamadou Sakho takes one in the face during an aerial challenge with Dame N'Doye. It's a yellow for the Sunderland substitute - and a headache for the Liverpool defender.

First signs of frustration from the stands as Simon Mignolet takes an age to take a kick. Absolutely no urgency about Liverpool's play.

Liverpool's possession is up to 83% but they've not been able to hurt their opponents. There's some neat football from the men in red but Sunderland will be happy with the way this is developing.

Sorry, but this is a shocker. Anyone who has paid £77 for this ought to be demanding their money back.

A rare glimpse of the Sunderland net for Liverpool. Milner is on the charge inside the Black Cats' area but his attempted pull-back to an unmarked Adam Lallana is cut out by the shin of John O'Shea. Then Roberto Firmino fires well over from the edge of the area.

There is more action on the touchline than there is on the pitch. Daniel Sturridge is warming up in front of the Main Stand. Little attacking threat from Liverpool so far.

Dame N'Doye is on for Watmore. Sunderland will be pleased with their start. They've limited Liverpool to just one chance in the opening 25 minutes. Slow, sluggish.. the Reds have not got going. Klopp will not be liking what he is seeing from his sick bed.

Three years ago Duncan Watmore was playing for Altrincham. This is the young Sunderland striker's sixth Premier League start but it has been cruelly cut short by injury after falling awkwardly.
