"Before he never got in the box now he starts to get into positions to score goals and he's a good finisher, when he's in front of goal, he's deadly."

That's Arsene Wenger's thoughts on Mesut Ozil.

This has been Ozil's coming of age season at Arsenal for sure, with five goals added to his 18 assists.

Is the goal return enough though? Ozil has never reached double figures in a league season. Managing nine at both Real Madrid and Werder Bremen.

"This sums up Arsenal. Dominating possession and dominating the shot count but they go in at half-time 1-1. It really sums up their season. They have thrown away all their good chances and they are back where they started."

Francis Coquelin has been busy and effective in that opening period. The midfielder has won the ball back consistently in Arsenal's midfield, making five tackles (green), one block (yellow) and four interceptions (blue).

Aston Villa - the team no-one wants to be compared with. They are whimpering towards the Championship and have a paltry 22 goals to show from 28 games this season.

A major worry for Swansea City will be the fact they have only managed 26 themselves - the second-worst tally in the Premier League.

Andre Ayew leads the way on eight for the Swans. Surely he must bag five or six more if their survival fight is to pack substance.

"YES, YES," shouts a Swansea player as Kyle Naughton wins a corner in the final minute of the half.

Why take it short though? A perfect chance to pressure the home side as we await the whistle. The result is Wayne Routledge's cross is blocked.

There's the whistle. All square at the break.

Aaron Ramsey puts a pass astray and there is a loud moan but Kyle Naughton - void of options - concedes a throw. This is the pattern now, Swansea camped in their own half, holding on to what they have.

    The cross bar is rattling.

Olivier Giroud's volley from 10 yards, set up by a clever header by Per Mertesacker. The French forward should score, the knock down was perfect.

Lukasz Fabianski was beaten and the groan around the stadium was deafening. A big few minutes. Can Swansea make it to the break level?

Francis Coquelin wins the ball in midfield, the number 34 has been good so far. Joel Campbell gets hold of it 35 yards out and throws a dummy before feeding Hector Bellerin who can cross from inside the area... good interception by Ashley Williams. Where would Swansea be without him?

A quick look at the overhead shows one pass was all it took as Jack Cork (24) picked up a loose ball. Wayne Routledge was very composed.

It's tame, very tame from Arsenal as Mesut Ozil is pressured as he tries to pull a high ball down. Jack Cork pounces and slides a ball between the central defenders with ease, Wayne Routledge passes the ball past Petr Cech.

That was simple. A big goal for Swansea and they barely had to earn it.

Aaron Ramsey thinks about a hit from range but refuses, Arsenal keep it. Start again, Alexis Sanchez looks to wriggle space and does, his pass finds Joel Campbell who volleys but a deflection takes all the sting off the shot.

    Arsenal 1-0 Swansea

Mesut Ozil is picked out in the box, his shot is blocked. The ball finds its way to Hector Bellerin a full 35 yards out and his effort IS GOOD... forcing an excellent save. Lots of swerve on that one and Lukasz Fabianski had to dive and then sprawl into his six-yard box to gather at the second attempt.
