Leicester midfielder Danny Drinkwater told BBC MOTD: "Jamie Vardy’s first goal was incredible. You think he’s going to square it but he hits it top corner. It sums his season up. He can turn an average ball into a great ball.  

"Every player in this team is working their socks off. It’s not a coincidence we’re top of the table. This is team spirit at its highest. We won’t stop believing. We’re staying on the ground but if we carry on the way we are then why not have the belief [to win the league]? It would go down in history surely."

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini: "It was a tough game. This is a team who are fighting relegation. They will play every game like a final. It is not our style to play with nine defenders but it was our third game in a week and it was impossible to have a high pace with all our injuries. It was better to defend well and concentrate.

"It is an important three points and now we have to play Leicester at home and they are still the leaders."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was asked by BBC MOTD's Jonathan Pearce about his side's good work ethic today: "It’s rare a journalist says something more positive than the manager.

"I’m not too fine with our game today. We could have played much better. We had a few shots where we could pass and a few passes where we could shoot. We created half chances but not real chances. It was a world-class goal from Jamie Vardy. Today would have been a good day to show we are ready for this. I need a few more seconds to calm down. I have to watch it again."

Dave in Stockport:  Good win for City. It's a long season and not all games will look attractive or easy. A good hard earned three points.

Southampton

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman: "One point away at Arsenal is a good result. To get a good result you need to be lucky and we had that on our side. We had good defending and great goalkeeper. But we needed to create more.

"He is a fantastic goalkeeper. Sometimes you think you can't score because he is massive. Maybe today was his best performance. We are happy he is the keeper of Southampton."

Angry Arsenal fan from Wolverhampton: If there was ever a reason why Arsenal should have signed a striker in January, this was it! Wasted another year trying to win the league. All credit Forster, kept Southampton in it.

They may have seen a stoppage-time equaliser but the home fans still boo...

Remi Garde speaking to BT Sport: "I didn't speak yet with Jordan Ayew. It will stay private. 

"It was too big a mountain for 10 men. We were denied a penalty. I'm sorry for the referee but it was a clear penalty. 

"We started well. Then after that this penalty and this stupid red card, the game was over. 

"The first goal, I'm not sure it wasn't offside. I feel very sorry for the guys to be beaten after the bravery they showed."

Asked about his future, he said: "I'm not speaking about that. It is not the time."

Sunderland

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce: "We missed too many chances today and when you play a Manchester City side and have better chances than them, it shows the level of our performance. There's no result for us, the points aren't there, but the positives are.

"While this performance was the best since I've been here, we're in big trouble now when you look at the other results tonight.

"It was a testament to our performance that they pulled off a striker at half-time and sent on a midfielder.

"Our debutants made some good contributions. I thought Jan Kirchoff was outstanding in midfield."
