Middlesbrough, who will go top of the table if they avoid defeat at Blackburn this evening, have gone 1-0 down early in the second half at Ewood Park.

  2. CLOSE!published at 20:52 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

    Norwich 0-2 Chelsea

Cameron Jerome could have had a couple tonight. The latest chance he spurns is set up by a cross to the back post by Gary O'Neil and fired wide of the post by the striker.

    Craig Gardner (50 mins)

That is superb! West Brom win a free-kick bang central, 25 yards out, and Craig Gardner steps up and pings it over the wall, into the top corner. Kasper Schmeichel was unmoved.

Sunderland get a corner early in the second half, which Younes Kaboul meets in the box but heads high and wide.

"I can't see Saido Berahino being happy with playing so far behind Salomon Rondon. He is just playing a defensive shift for the team and he is getting frustrated. That smile he had on his face on Saturday might not last too long."

As it stands, it is a belting night for Sunderland. They are currently out of the bottom three for the first time since September.

  9. Postpublished at 20:40 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

These are very worrying times for Norwich and Crystal Palace. They were both in serious bother before kick-off and they both now trail. I would include Villa in that as well but to paraphrase that kid in the Simpsons when Homer is beating up the Krusty Burglar... "Stop, stop, they're already dead!"

I'm not sure that this picture does the goal justice, but you can at least see Albrighton's cross to Mahrez, who played the most outrageous flick to King.

Still no goals in tonight's solitary Championship match between Blackburn and Middlesbrough, and no joy yet for Boro striker Jordan Rhodes, who is facing the club he left at the end of the January transfer window.

League One leaders Burton are level at 0-0 at Sheffield United at half-time, while Northampton - the team at the top of League Two - lead AFC Wimbledon 1-0 with a goal from John-Joe O'Toole.

Bristol Rovers get the award for the performance of the first half in the Football League - they're 3-0 up at home to struggling Hartlepool in the fourth tier.

  20. goal

GOAL - Norwich 0-2 Chelseapublished at 20:31 Greenwich Mean Time 1 March 2016

    Diego Costa

Now that is a finish. Diego Costa has not seen much of the ball but such is his class that when the big chance comes he finishes it off. Quick thinking following a throw-in allows Bertrand Traore to thread a pass to Costa, who is clear and chips over John Ruddy for his 10th goal in his last 14 games. Replays show that Costa was clearly offside - which will further anger the home fans - but the goal stands and Chelsea lead 2-0.
