  • FT: Bournemouth 3-2 Swansea

  • Bournemouth secure third successive league win

  • FA Cup: Everton v Chelsea (17:30 GMT)

    Bournemouth 0-0 Swansea

Swansea's first dig at goal comes from Wayne Routledge, who fancies scoring a wordy with a volley from the edge of the box following a free-kick, but his radar isn't on and the shot flies wide. Worth a go, though. If it comes off, you can dine out on that for the next 10 years.

  2. CLOSE!published at 3 mins

    Bournemouth 0-0 Swansea

Early chance for the home side as Max Gradel - such a threat down with his pace and skill - chips over a cross that Josh King heads just over the bar. The striker was just off balance due to a challenge so couldn't quite generate the requisite power and accuracy.

    Bournemouth 0-0 Swansea

Shocking first touch for Steve Cook, who puts the ball straight out of play in his own half. OK, forget that one son. Start again.

  6. 'Champagne on ice'published at 14:56 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2016

    Bournemouth v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

    Martin Fisher
    Match of the Day commentator

"The champagne remains on ice but it shouldn't be long before the bottles are being uncorked at Bournemouth and Swansea.

"Thirty-seven points has been enough to secure Premier League safety in each of the last four seasons and both of these clubs are within touching distance of that tally with nine games left.

"Survival was always Bournemouth's primary goal; achieving it without having to compromise his footballing philosophies is a real triumph for Eddie Howe.

"Eyebrows were raised when Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins sacked Garry Monk in December but he recognised that the Swans were sinking. Between them, Francesco Guidolin and Alan Curtis have guided the club through choppy waters and the future looks bright again."

"While this particular England versus Wales contest won't attract the same amount of coverage as this evening, Twickenham showdown, at least there's been no pre-match mind games over illegal scrummaging. There's a thin layer of cloud in the Dorset skies, but it's been a dry day and the pitch - pretty much immaculate - is being watered by the automatic sprinklers which have drenched many an unsuspecting mascot or away player here."

Bournemouth always create a lot of chances and play with great energy at home, so I am backing them to win again this weekend.

It must be something of a novel experience for many Premier League players, used to huge, modern stadiums, coming to the Vitality. It is an old school, modest ground. But this Bournemouth side is far from old school. Swansea can't let the surroundings fool them this afternoon, or they're in for a hiding.

There are plenty of sun-gegs on show on the south coast. Say it quietly, but I think we might finally be getting a spring.

"Swansea midfielder Jack Cork's career comes full circle today. As a 17-year-old on loan from Chelsea, he made his competitive debut for Bournemouth on 3 November 2006 in a 4-2 defeat at... Swansea. One of his opponents in midfield that day was Leon Britton, who is on the bench for the Swans today."

  11. 'I need more rest'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2016

    Bournemouth v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

Swansea head coach Francesco Guidolin on his health: "I need some more days of rest. I've finished with antibiotics, but it's better for me to relax a bit more.

"For the match against Aston Villa, I hope to be back.

"The two victories against Arsenal and Norwich were very important."

The Swans have accrued 14 points from eight games since Francesco Guidolin was appointed head coach. They had just 19 points from the previous 21 matches. That'll do Guid, that'll do.

Here's a promising stat: the last five matches between these two have produced 22 goals.

It's going to be 0-0 now isn't it. Damn it.

  13. 'Some way to go'published at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 12 March 2016

    Bournemouth v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe on the Cherries' survival prospects:"Saturday won't guarantee anything but it can help, as all games can, if we can take maximum points from them.

"No one can predict what the final points tally will be. There is still some way to go in the season, teams can go on good runs at this time of year, so we just have to focus on this game and try to win."

    Norwich 0-0 Man City

It is all over at Carrow Road. Norwich have earned themselves a point against Manchester City. A Canaries win might have put a tiny bit of extra pressure on these teams today. But they don't have to worry about that now.

For the record, that lunchtime kick-off was a bit of a stinker. Surely we are going to get a better game here.

    Mark Mitchener

"Swansea went from the brink of dropping into non-League football in 2003, to promotion to the Premier League in 2011. Bournemouth's rise was even quicker - avoiding relegation from League Two in 2009 and lifting the Championship trophy last May. Whoever takes the points today - which would be a huge boost to either side's survival hopes - neither set of fans should lose a sense of perspective on how far they have come to get here."

With a distinct lack of action elsewhere in the Premier League today (Stoke v Southampton is the only other 3pm kick-off) this game offers a prime opportunity for one of these to put some serious space between themselves and the bottom three.

A Bournemouth win puts them 13 points clear of 17th with 38 - a gap you doubt any of the current bottom three could bridge. Swansea would be 11 away with victory.

For the record, 37 points was enough points to stay up in each of the last four seasons.

It has been a tough few weeks for Swansea head coach Francesco Guidolin, who has been suffering with a chest infection. However, even with such a nasty illness, the Italian - along with Alan Curtis and his coaching team - have overseen two wins on the trot.

Guidolin is still recovering so Curtis will again take charge today. As deputies go, AC is not bad at all. Very much the Lewis to Guidolin's Morse.

An awful lot has happened in the last 9 years, not least of all both teams' elevation to the Premier League, in order for today's meeting to take place.

They both find currently themselves in a similar position - in some degree of comfort following some good recent results but far from safe yet.

This is game both will identify as winnable, which will hopefully make for a cracking game.
