  1. FULL-TIME - Swansea 1-0 Aston Villapublished at 19:21

Swansea close it out and get the win through Federico Fernandez's, er, shoulder.

The Swans are now 11 points clear of the relegation zone, while Villa remain 12 points adrift of safety.

For Villa, the end of the season can't come soon enough,

Last on Match of the Day tonight?

Anyway, thanks for joining us. Cheerio.

  2. YELLOW CARDpublished at 93 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Leon Britton takes one for the team as he brings down Gabby Agbonlahor as the Villa striker threatens to run clear down the right-hand side.

Villa are unable to do anything with the free-kick. Time running out.

  3. INJURY TIMEpublished at 90 mins

    Four added minutes...

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 87 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Wayne Routledge is the final change for Swansea (replacing Stephen Kingsley) and he is booked almost immediately for tripping fellow sub Gabby Agbonlahor.

  5. Postpublished at 83 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Just about staying awake for this... virtually nothing happening in the closing stages.

It's painful to watch an historic club like Aston Villa meekly going out of the Premier League with a whimper.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 79 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Gabby Agbonlahor came on for Carles Gil a couple of minutes ago as Aston Villa try to get something out of the game. For Swansea, Kyle Naughton replaces Modou Barrow as they try to shut up shop.

You get the feeling Aston Villa could play until midnight and still not score here. Their fragile confidence (if they can be in any way confident) has been knocked out of them by conceding such a shambolic goal.

  7. Postpublished at 73 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Two corners in quick succession for Aston Villa... the first is headed out but Villa captain Joleon Lescott gets a header on target for the second. Unfortunately for him, it's straight at Lukasz Fabianski.

News from Notts County... manager Jamie Fullerton has been sacked...

  9. Postpublished at 68 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Aston Villa's heads are down... having dominated the first half, they've offered very little since going behind. Carles Gil does loft a free-kick into the box but it loops over very slowly and is cleared.

Why not whip it in with pace?

  10. Error prone? Just a bitpublished at 66 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

  11. Postpublished at 64 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Just seen a replay of the goal... it doesn't get any better for Brad Guzan. Hapless, unfortunately. A feeble attempt to punch clear. If you come out, you simply have to do better than that.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 61 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Teenager Andre Green replaces Jordan Veretout as Aston Villa seek to get back into the match.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 58 mins

    Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa

Swansea's Gylfi Sigurdsson goes into the book for a hack on Jordan Veretout.

So, what have Aston Villa got? On the evidence of this season, not a lot. To be fair, they are very unlucky to be behind but Brad Guzan let his side down big time on the goal.

  14. goal

GOAL - Swansea 1-0 Aston Villa (Federico Fernandez)published at 54 mins

Oh, Brad Guzan. A nightmare. He comes to punch clear a free-kick and doesn't get anything on it... the balls comes off the shoulder of Federico Fernandez and Swansea lead.

It could have been worse for Villa as Aly Sissoko was a lucky, lucky boy not to receive a second yellow card for fouling Modou Barrow to give away the free-kick. He had hands his hands all over him. Referee Mike Dean was very lenient.

    Very lenient.

Swansea's fans were seriously disgruntled at the end of the first half - and who can blame them after such a dreadful 45 minutes from the home side?

There seems to be some encouragement from the stands at the start of the second period, as fans' favourite Leon Britton comes on for the ineffective Ki Sung-yueng.

The South Korean was not the only player to underwhelm in the first half, though. Swansea need to improve all over the pitch.

  16. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Aston Villa

Swansea showing a bit more in the early stages of the second half... shouts for a handball as a cross comes in from the left but not convincing.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 46 mins

    Swansea 0-0 Aston Villa

Back under way... surely it can only improve.

Ki Sung-yueng is the man to make way for Leon Britton.

  18. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 18:29

    Swansea 0-0 Aston Villa

Leon Britton is coming on for Swansea... not sure who for yet...

Here's how it finished in Saturday's earlier Premier League games.

Leicester keep on going - Riyad Mahrez giving them a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace that takes them eight points clear.

    It's still stunning.

That result means Swansea will go above Palace if they avoid defeat against Aston Villa.

  20. HALF-TIMEpublished at 18:17

    Swansea 0-0 Aston Villa

Boos at the Liberty Stadium... Aston Villa very unlucky not to be in front. But scrappy, scruffy fare in truth.
