Some early shouts for player of the year here, at least among the Tottenham fans...

Ryan and Dylan, Watford: Player of season has to be Dele Alli, amazing skill and English, will bring home the Euros for us.

Adam, London: They'll never give it to a defender, but Alderweireld has been outstanding for Spurs this season.

  2. Championship previewpublished at 12:58 Greenwich Mean Time 27 February 2016

Speaking of the Championship, there is a mouthwatering Lancashire derby that could have significance at both ends of the table as second bottom Bolton host second place Burnley.

Preston for the play-offs? You can't rule it out because they are on strong run of form in the Championship. Four successive wins have propelled the side, who were probably thinking only of Championship survival this season, to within six points of the top six. They are at Cardiff today.

Other stand-out ties in the division sees third place Middlesbrough head to Fulham while struggling Rotherham entertain Brentford.

“I’m excited to see him play today (Dimitri Payet), he’s had so many accolades since he’s come here. Someone suggested he plays in the big games, well this is a big game.”

    Chris Sutton
Former Chelsea & Norwich striker on Football Focus

"Football and clubs have patterns of play. When West Ham play they give midfielder Dimitri Payet the ball. He can execute a pass and score goals.

"Sunderland have the right manager in place - Sam Allardyce has never taken a team down."

“It’s a tall order, Sunderland have been poor, there has been a run of games where they have seen a bit of light that they may be able to drag themselves out of that bottom three.

“Get the ball into areas you hope Jermain Defoe is going to be. He is their only chance of getting out of the bottom three. He’ll score goals if he gets the chance."

Slightly niche, but Peter Ndlovu was my second favourite player of the '90s, behind the great Marcus Stewart.

    Huddersfield Town fans will understand.

Dan from andover: I know it's not football related but at the British gp last year I 'lost' my wife's camera. And spent the build up to the race and several hours after dragging my father in law round silverstone trying to find it and getting a bit offish with the staff at the circuit, only to find it in my bag on the bus back to the car park!

"Liverpool, even under Jurgen Klopp, have been inconsistent. This isn't his team - there will be changes in the summer."
