Juventus and Bayern Munich have reached four of the last six Champions League finals between them - Bayern in 2010, 2012 and 2013, while Juve were defeated 3-1 by Barcelona in Berlin last June. They might be flying in Italy but do Juve have any chance of being crowned champions of Europe? Is Bayern's team strong enough to win it for the first time since 2013? Can Pep Guardiola deliver the Champions League before he swaps Bayern Munich for Manchester City in the summer?

"We have [injury] problems, but what can we do?. We hardly have any players – we have Serdar Tasci and Medhi Benatia, but they have either just arrived or trained for only two or three days," said Guardiola ahead of tonight's game.

"We don't have any central defenders – that's how it is. We've got to attack intelligently and avoid conceding set pieces as Juventus are maybe the best team in Europe from set pieces."

Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic has shaken off a calf problem to face his former club. He lines up alongside Paulo Dybala, who has 13 Serie A goals this season.

Juventus XI: Buffon, Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Evra, Cuadrado, Khedira, Marchisio, Pogba, Mandzukic, Dybala.

Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola is without centre-backs Javi Martínez (knee), Jerome Boateng (groin) and Holger Badstuber (ankle). It means that midfielder Joshua Kimmich and full-back David Alaba will form a makeshift partnership at the heart of the defence.

Midfielder Xabi Alonso does not make the line-up but former Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal does start.

Bayern Munich XI: Neuer, Lahm, Kimmich, Alaba, Bernat, Vidal, Thiago,  Robben, Muller, Costa, Lewandowski.

Juventus v Bayern Munich (19:45 GMT)

The 'boring' group stage is over, it's a straight shootout between the continent's last 16... the Champions League is about to get interesting. Very interesting.

Two clubs steeped in rich European history, Juventus are seeking to reach a ninth final; Bayern Munich an 11th.

Both have high hopes of reaching the final at the San Siro in Milan on 28 May. Trouble is one of them is going out in the next three weeks.

One is running away with their domestic title. The other is in unstoppable form. One has a manager heading for Manchester City. The other has a boss who is attracting Chelsea's attention. The hosts have won 13 of their last 14 games. The visitors are unbeaten in 10 outings.

It's Italy against Germany, Serie A versus the Bundesliga, Juventus and Bayern Munich, two giants who between them have been crowned kings of Europe seven times.
