Southampton 2-0 Newcastle
This must be excruciating to watch for the travelling Newcastle fans (331 miles).
Southampton have played their normal game - they haven't had to impress.

Jonathan Milburn: The quicker relegation is confirmed for Newcastle the better relegation will be the best thing to happen to us
Graziano Pelle
Calamitous!
Magpies full-back Daryl Janmaat slips 40 yards from goal. It allows Dusan Tadic to run in on goal. He plays it to Shane Long on the edge of the area whose heavy touch falls to Graziano Pelle.
The Italian striker sweeps in from just inside the box.
Simple.
Dutch defender Janmaat hurt himself in the build-up and is replaced by Siem de Jong.

Tom, London: Bit unfair saying Mike Ashley has been awful, Newcastle have spent more than almost anyone else this season and have bought in one of top managers in Europe!
Ken, Newcastle: How NUFC could do with a John Anderson. A proper defender.

Southampton 1-0 Newcastle
We have about 11 minutes until HT. Newcastle have yet to cause their former keeper Fraser Forster any problems.
Forster spent six years at the club, from 2006, but did not manage to play a game - look where that got him!

Southampton swarm forward again. This time Graziano Pelle has the ball 18 yards out, but the shot is tame.

Southampton 1-0 Newcastle
If Newcastle fans thought they'd already seen the worst display by their team this season then "Roll up! Roll up!" for yet another classic.
The Saints look comfortable.

Jordy Clasie's in-swinger from the left nearly swings into Karl Darlow's goal. It deceived all and crept cms past the keeper's far post.

This time the Saints delivery is poor and Newcastle manage to clear.
Southampton 1-0 Newcastle
Southampton have another free-kick.
The ball swung into the area but full-back Daryl Janmaat heads it away... for another corner.
Southampton 1-0 Newcastle
Newcastle are pressured at the back.
Centre-back Steven Taylor plays a short backpass which forces Karl Darlow to rush out of his goal. The keeper just about beats Shane Long to the ball, although he clips the goalscorer - it was close though. Ref Robert Madley didn't see anything wrong with Darlow's challenge.
Southampton 1-0 Newcastle
So, so easy for Southampton... This graphic doesn't show you any tackles. But there weren't any!

Sam Lockwood: Barely played 5 minutes and that's pretty much Newcastle joining Villa in the championship next season
Southampton 1-0 Newcastle
BBC Newcastle summariser John Anderson: "It was woeful defending from Newcastle. Nobody was prepared to get a tackle in. Steven Taylor was just planted to the spot."
Southampton 1-0 Newcastle
Newcastle don't know what day it is.
Sadio Mane strikes an effort that comes off a Newcastle player and out for a corner. The set-piece is just about cleared by the visiting defence.
Shane Long
That was too easy, far too easy.
Shane Long runs through the Magpies defence from 25 yards out. Vurnon Anita and Steven Taylor both make half-hearted challenges - it was shockingly bad defending - before the Irishman slipped his shot past Karl Darlow.
This might be a case of 'how many' for the home side.
