"Townsend has been the inspiration for Newcastle for the last three or four weeks and once again he has come up with the goods. It is a great strike, he goes for the far corner and wrong foots Wayne Hennessey, who is nowhere near it."

I told you he takes a while to get going, but when he does get going...

January signing Andros Townsend has scored some cracking goals in his short Magpies life, but this one could be his best and most important.

The former Spurs midfielder smashes a stunning free-kick high past the reach of Wayne Hennessey and into the far corner.

    It was an absolute beauty.

As it stands Newcastle will be out of the relegation zone. Yes, that's right 'as it stands' fans.

"Alan Pardew has come here with a game plan, he has five across the middle and has tried to control the game and slow it down. Palace are trying to isolate Vurnon Anita on the left with Yannick Bolasie, but Bolasie has not managed to pick the right cross. Newcastle have come into the game in the last 15 minutes, but Palace look more competent.

"Newcastle still look edgy and you can feel it in their fans."
