    Sunderland 3-0 Everton

This has been another pretty miserable showing from Everton. They surrendered at Leicester at the weekend and this is pretty much the same story.

"I spoke about the quality of Wahbi Khazri. He is almost shooting from the corner and causes so many problems for Robles. Kone is two yards out and it is a tap-in."

    Lamine Kone

Surely that is game over and relegation battle over! Jermain Defoe goes close with a chip over Robles that Matthew Pennington has to scamper back to clear off the line for a corner. But from the resulting set-piece, Robles is forced to claw the ball away from Wahbi Khazri's delivery before the ball is lashed home from close range by that man Kone again.

Early chance for Everton. Gareth Barry heads a free-kick back across goal from the byline and the ball is met by the head of Matthew Pennington, but his effort is saved by Vito Mannone.

Everton had to do something. That something is the removal of Ross Barkley - who offered nothing in the first half - and Aaron Lennon's introduction.

Derek Bish: Well, Kone got hold of that one! May have killed Robles if he'd got in the way of it

"The first goal goes in and Everton crumble and they were defensively poor for the second. Sunderland couldn't do any more. It was a brilliant half - they have done everything Sam Allardyce required from them."

    Sunderland 2-0 Everton

Sunderland are nearly there. They have a firm hold on this game thanks to two defenders - Van Aanholt and Kone.

Norwich and Newcastle are hanging on to the Premier League by a fingertip.

To be honest, if Robles had managed to get in the way of that Kone shot it would probably have killed him.

Joy unbound now in Sunderland. Newcastle and Norwich are staring into the abyss. Just to make this situation even worse for Newcastle, the scorer of the first goal, Van Aanholt, used to play for them. He was on loan in 2010 when United were in the Championship. Just more salt to pour in the wound.

Big, huge, massive! And that is just Lamine Kone. Everton fail to properly clear from a corner and the ball is headed back in by Van Aanholt and then lashed into the roof of the net by Kone. What a time to score your first Sunderland goal. The Sunderland fans are dancing in the stands.

You have to wonder where Robles was going there? He moved from the exact spot that the ball went in. But if that was an error then his next act is the exact opposite. Another Sunderland free-kick is swung in and glanced towards goal by the head of Jermain Defoe. It is destined for the goal until Robles pulls out a superb, one-handed diving save.

Told you it was a chance! It is not Khazri but Patrick van Aanholt who hits it. It goes straight through the wall and completely wrong-foots Robles, who steps to his left and allows the ball to find the middle of the net. The Stadium of Light erupts. As it stands Sunderland are staying up.
