    England 2-0 Serbia

England have the freedom of the middle of the pitch to build their attacks. There's seven Serbia players hanging back around the visitor's area. It is doing little to stifle the England attacks as Rachel Daly sees an effort saved.

"It has been a really good solid performance from England, like they are all playing for their places, which they probably are."

    England 2-0 Serbia

Serbia have responded to that goal by...going even more defensive. Five at the back for the visitors. Damage limitation?

"Carney did well there. She was set in her mind exactly what she would do. That is experience for you.

"The keeper had absolutely no chance."

GOAL - Karen Carney penpublished at 35 mins

    England 2-0 Serbia

Great composure from Karen Carney. A divot, or a bit of wind, results in the ball rolling before Carney can take the penalty. She re-positions the ball before coolly thumping it into the bottom corner.

    A deserved two-goal lead.

Penalty to England as Ellen White is sent to the ground by a Serbia defender.

    Big chance for a second...

This is Alex Greenwood's goal from earlier. Well worth a watch.

"The goalkeeper made a hash of that it was a speculative effort but Izzy Christiansen will have wanted to do better there."

  9. CLOSE!published at 30 mins

    England 1-0 Serbia

Ellen White is making up for lost time! This is her first start since the third-place game at last year's World Cup and she goes for an audacious lofted effort from all of 35 yards. Susanne Nilsson gets across just in time to punch the ball away, Isobel Christiansen pounces on it, but her effort is just wide of the far post.

    England 1-0 Serbia

Alex Greenwood has been brilliant so far. So good, in fact, that I'll give her a pass for her garish boots. They look like Chewits.

  11. CLOSE!published at 25 mins

    England 1-0 Serbia

Ooof! Lucy Bronze goes very, very close with a header. Alex Greenwood swings in a cross and Bronze rises to head just wide of the post. Good effort.

    "It is all England.

"The ball fell at Lucy Bronze too quickly, she couldn't adjust her feet quick enough, it did come at her with some pace."

    England 1-0 Serbia

Better! Alex Greenwood dinks a ball into the box and Rachel Daly flicks on for Lucy Bronze at the far post, but her first-time effort flashes over the bar.

    England 1-0 Serbia

England have taken their foot off the pedal after taking the lead. They are still on top, but not really creating much in the final third. This is a real chance to make a statement in the group with a big win.

Andy Cleveland: Such a pleasure to see the England women's team. Can we swap managers?

  17. Postpublished at 18 mins

    England 1-0 Serbia

Marija Radojicic has a thankless task today. She is operating as a lone forward for Serbia and when I say lone, I mean lone. You could probably fit the population of Wycombe in the space between her and her team-mates.

    Sue Smith

"Fantastic pass from Fara Williams and what good movement from Greenwood then a lovely cool calm finish. She hit it exactly where she should have done.

"Really bad defending from Serbia but good football from England."

  19. goal

GOAL - England 1-0 Serbiapublished at 15 mins

    Alex Greenwood

    Nothing less than England deserve.

They've played some belting football in the first quarter of an hour and the Serbia defence is caught out as Fara Williams slices it open with a clever ball, putting Alex Greenwood through and she sidefoots across the keeper and into the far corner.

    England 0-0 Serbia

Steph Houghton whips an inswinging cross into the area and the Serbia defence fails to pick up Jill Scott's run but she can't get her header on target and the ball balloons well over the bar.
