"Hibs have been nowhere near the standards they set in the first half of the season. What they lack is a way of grinding out results and that's a worry ahead of the play-offs," former Hibs captain Ian Murray on BBC Sportsound.

Hibs fans are more likely to be worried about form rather than fitness...

In mid-February, they were celebrating Scottish Cup success against Edinburgh rivals Hearts, with their team just five points behind Rangers.

A surprise loss to Morton followed and since then the wheels have come off in spectacular style.

A meagre five points have been gathered from a possible 24, which has allowed Falkirk to overtake them. That's the same Falkirk side that was down 2-0 with 10 men after 86 minutes and managed to salvage a draw in the last outing at Easter Road.

If Hibs are to have a successful season, they are going to have to work hard for it. If Alan Stubbs' men fail to make up the six-point gap on Falkirk but progress to the play-off final, it will mean a gruelling schedule of 11 games in 36 days.

"Yes, it's a lot of games but success is the thing everyone strives for in football and, when you've got something so close, tiredness isn't an issue," Stubbs told BBC Scotland yesterday.

His players looked pretty knackered in extra time against Dundee United but they've had one more day to recover than tonight's opponents.

Rangers arrive at Easter Road in great spirits, having wrapped up the Championship title at the start of the month, winning the Challenge Cup and then upsetting Premiership leaders Celtic at Hampden.

This is the first of their four remaining league matches before they get a 20-day break ahead of the Scottish Cup final.

Manager Mark Warburton will want to maintain the feelgood factor and maintain momentum for the next big day at the national stadium.

  5. To clap or not to clap?published at 19:30 British Summer Time 20 April 2016

    Hibernian v Rangers (19:45)

There has been a bit of debate on whether or not Hibs should form a guard of honour for the champions, who are making their first league appearance since clinching the title.

Teams went clap-happy for Hearts last season, with Queen of the South, Rangers and Alloa all lining up to applaud before Hibs, perhaps unsurprisingly, said enough is enough...

Hibs boss Alan Stubbs thinks such a gesture should be made by the visitors at the last home league game for the champs.

We'll find out soon enough if the Hibs players do decide to welcome Rangers on to the park.

  6. Hibernian manager Alan Stubbspublished at 19:28 British Summer Time 20 April 2016

    Talking to BBC Radio Scotland

"We're going with three at the back. We think that system can hurt Rangers. Rangers have been playing with a style that has earned deserved plaudits and we need to combat that and try to get the win."

  7. Late alteration for hostspublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 20 April 2016

Update for that last entry. Hibs are now up to six subs. There's still time to find one more...

  8. Hibs thin on numberspublished at 19:20 British Summer Time 20 April 2016

    Hibernian v Rangers (19:45)

Rangers only named five subs for their Scottish Cup win over Celtic. Tonight they are back up to the regulation seven, while Hibs drop down to five.

I could be cruel and suggest that is to make room for the ample Conrad Logan.

  9. Gers go to O'Halloranpublished at 19:17 British Summer Time 20 April 2016

Rangers were also involved in a dramatic shootout at the weekend, following a 2-2 draw with Celtic at Hampden.

Manager Mark Warburton has a small squad and is without injured duo Harry Forrester and Martyn Waghorn but brings in Michael O'Halloran, who was cup-tied on Sunday, to freshen up the side.

Dean Shiels is the man dropping to the bench.

  10. Logan's (short) run at an endpublished at 19:14 British Summer Time 20 April 2016

    Hibernian v Rangers (19:45)

Scottish football unearthed a new cult hero at the weekend when Conrad Logan was thrust into the limelight at Hampden and played a key role in Hibs' semi-final win over Dundee United.

The former Leicester City goalie had not played a senior match in 16 months and was carrying a few extra pounds but he was the star of the show, making a few fine saves and stopping two penalties in the shootout.

His reward? A place on the bench as Mark Oxley returns from suspension to take over the gloves.

NIklas Gunnarsson also comes in, taking over from Liam Henderson as it looks like the hosts are going for a 3-5-2 line-up.

  12. Scottish Cup final rehearsalpublished at 19:09 British Summer Time 20 April 2016

    Hibernian v Rangers (19:45)

This is the fifth meeting between the sides this season, with one more to come. And it's a big one on 21 May.

For the first time in its history, the Scottish Cup final will involve two sides from outside the top flight.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. There is still some unfinished business in the Championship, with Hibernian bidding to overhaul Falkirk in second place.
