David Brent: this has been coming and it has been obvious for a number of months. Utd didn't back LVG, the writing has been on the wall.
Mufc Believer: Surprised at some #mufc, external fans. Appointing Mourinho is a step forward from LVG, that's for sure. So what's with the whining?
Khushil Hirani: Everyone accused City off lacking class after announcing Pep earlier in the season. This leak after the final is just as bad!

JC: Not a fan of Van Gaal at all but it's classless and disrespectful to leak this news. Tonight should be about him and the lads!
Jake Howard: Ain't sure about Mourinho, doesn't like using Youth, doesn't like Mata either..think he lost plot at Chelsea too..
Adedayo: Well Mourinho is in I am so glad it is happening on a day we won the FA Cup. Van Gaal tried but never convinced.

"Manchester United failed to qualify for the Champions League. They have spent an enormous amount of money. Manchester United see themselves as a club who win trophies as they have done today and not only qualify for the Champions League but win it, compete for it and be in the latter stages of the competition. This season they didn't do that beyond Christmas.
"After the defeat at West Ham, which precipitated Manchester City qualifying for the Champions League, I think a decision was made that a change was required and Jose Mourinho has been available since he left Chelsea.
"There have been reservations. It is my understanding that there were a number of senior figures at Manchester United earlier this season who would have preferred to have seen Ryan Giggs given a chance. Ultimately, the decision to appoint a manager is in the hands of the owners - the Glazer family - and the executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
"Even in a situation like this, Ed Woodward would have to defer to the owners if they thought a certain way forward was the right way to go."
Bayern win German cup
German Bundesliga
It went to penalties but Pep Guardiola has won the double in Germany after a shootout win.
Dan Roan
BBC Sports editor
"In February BBC Sport revealed that United had held talks with Jose Mourinho's representatives, and they have now come to fruition.
"Ed Woodward - and United's American owners, the Glazer family - still hoped Louis van Gaal would lead the club to a top four finish, and up until last month Mourinho's advisers were concerned the club might remain loyal to the Dutch coach.
"But fans were not convinced by Van Gaal's tactics. The club's 49 goals in the Premier League this season was United's lowest total since 1989-90, coincidentally a season that also ended with an FA Cup final win over Crystal Palace."

Cannot believe United allowed this news to leak minutes after winning the cup. Disgraceful treatment of Van Gaal not to mention Michael Carrick. Just as it's clear that Van Gaal is building a young side for the future then we appoint a man who will sign mercenaries from Dad's Army. This is not the same club I grew up supporting and part of me has died tonight.

I think United were planning to sack LvG a while ago but they were waiting for an appropriate moment like the FA cup to soften the blow and let him sign off in some dignity.

A penalty shootout in Germany? We could be here all night.

Harry Morgan: Klopp vs Pep vs Conte vs Mourinho vs Wenger vs Poccetino vs Bilic vs Ranieri, all going for top 4. Next season will be great.
Eteyan Adegoke: This leaves a sour taste. I wanted Jose in and LVG out but not like this. The club should have learnt from
Callum Anderson: Really hope that Martial, Lingard & Rashford will be given the means to continue their development under Mourinho.

Dr Spits: looking forward to the fans who were fed up with LvG's boring footy to see mourinho come in with his even more boring footy.
Hardik Rajgor: If the Mourinho rumors are true, it's classless of Manchester United to leak the news out just hours after Van Gaal has just won a trophy.
Dominic: here's how Mourinho works: first year, you challenge but don't quite win. 2nd you win the league. 3rd you suck
Understandably, Louis van Gaal did not take those questions about his future well.
You have a strange situation where LvG was talking about bringing in new players this summer and all the media are going with the story that he's already been replaced...

Former Arsenal striker on 5 live
Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright on BBC Radio 5 live: "If you get the chance to go to Man Utd with Jose Mourinho having a point to prove, it is going to be exciting times.
"I'm sure there are going to be Man Utd fans who are not going to be happy with it but if he starts how I believe he will - to make a point, play good football and get those young players and new signings he will probably make going - they're going to be very excited about that."

I think it's completely unfair on LVG to be replaced on the day he won the cup. The club expects way too much of him, LVG would've done just as well as Mourinho with the money he will be given
Harry from Romford
United fan here and although LVG hasn't been perfect it was a classless and disrespectful move for this to be announced on the day he brought home a trophy for us. He deserved better than that and should have been allowed the time to celebrate with the players before this was announced.

"When Louis van Gaal came in it was about top-four qualification and by and large it has been a poor season. For today for long periods it wasn't great.
"He can be happy to sign off with a trophy but the fans haven't been happy for a long time."
Louis van Gaal has just arrived for his post-match news conference....

Matty: I won't be surprised if Mourinho wins the Premiership with United next season. He's too good man.
Kunal Kataria: Yesss Mourinho to United is finally happening. Jose to take revenge of those El Clasico defeats against Pep in Manchester Derbies!!
Raphael Levy: Mourinho and an FA Cup. Not a bad day. I do love me a trip to Wembley.

Trying to escape from Wembley and hearing about Mourinho, feel kinda sorry for LVG, was never a fan in the first place but my respect giving the youngsters a chance and they're my biggest fear when Mourinho takes over. #ThankYouVanGaal

Absolutely disgraceful treatment of a man who has just led his team to a trophy. Now as a final insult, the press get to know before heroes. I hope Mourinho fails big time. I'm a Forest fan so I'm quite used to seeing managers treated badly....
