There's a lull. Are these settling for a point? 

Victor Valdes with a slightly wayward pass out, nonetheless it's worked out wide to Albert Adomah - he manages to get a ball into the box but Stewart Downing's header is straight at Shay Given.

Is David Nugent the man to sneak this for the home side? 

He's on in place of Gaston Ramirez - man of the match for me.

Gaston Ramirez is down, and Philipp Wollscheid has just been booked. On the edge of the box as a Stoke free-kick was played in, the Stoke man caught Ramirez with a wayward arm. 

Hence the yellow - and hence the chorus of boos that greeted the refs decision. The home side wanted red, but in my view that would have been very harsh indeed.

A big last 10 minutes to play here. 

If anything Stoke are looking the more dangerous. That goal seems to have given them momentum. Boro looking cautious.

Can he make a difference?

Stoke corner. George Friend is adamant he got a touch on Marko Arnautovic's through ball but the ref has other ideas. Bojan takes this one short, it's lofted up to Philipp Wollscheid at the back stick but the Boro defence manage to crowd him out. 

There are 32,110 at the Riverside as the Premier League returns. Will there be winner? Just under 15 minutes left to play.

Brilliant strike from Boro's right-back Nsue, hit with real venom, his effort from just inside the box fizzes wide of the post - thanks to a deflection off Erik Pieters. 

And from the corner, Ben Gibson rises strongly but can't control anything but the power of his header, which booms over. Decent chances...

Change for Stoke - Jon Walters comes on for Mame Biram Diouf. He'd done about as much as Shaqiri had - until a few moments ago that is.

Xherdan Shaqiri has missed the wall and hit the target and that's as much credit as you can give him. If the keeper stands still he catches the ball. He'll be disappointed when he sees that.

This could be dangerous for the home side. Xherdan Shaqiri is brought down on the edge of the box and will fancy taking the free-kick himself.

And as Gaston Ramirez strides up the turf, Imbula brings him down to earth with a rugged intervention. Boro free-kick. They quite wisely turn the ball back to their own goal. It's been a while since they've held on to it for a time.

Marko Arnautovic now takes his turn again to fire wide - so wide in fact it uproots the corner flag. Exceptionally off target.

Nor will this wayward shot from Xherdan Shaqiri from outside the box. In his mind he's still scoring that scissor kick at Euro 2016.

But Bojan's ball in is straight into the side-netting. That's the second corner today he's skewed wide.

Can't see that changing Mark Hughes' expression...

Adomah has space to burn into on the break and two men in the box - Negredo and Ramirez - to pick out... 

But his cross is rash, over-hit, and Stoke can clear down the other end, where they earn a corner. This is getting lively...
