  2. Time to throw in the towel?published at 15:54 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Tottenham

If this was a boxing match they'd stop it. Spurs are ripping Middlesbrough apart, and Son's second goal was sensational. He's such a mobile player and he can score goals - he's playing brilliantly.

  3. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Tottenham

Boro boss Aitor Karanka darted down that Boro tunnel. What's up that sleeve of yours Aitor?

  4. CLOSE!published at 45 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Tottenham

    It should have been 3-0.

You know how Dele Alli misses easy chances now and again? On this occasion the England attacking midfielder scoops over from eight yards after Christian Eriksen dispossesses a dawdling Calum Chambers in the area.

  5. Clayton and Valdes 'scrap'published at 44 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Tottenham

It wasn't really. But former Barcelona (and Manchester United) keeper Victor Valdes charges up to his defender Adam Clayton and "has a word".

Friction and not what Boro boss Aitor Karanka wants to see. Or maybe he does.

  6. GOOD SAVE and PENALTY APPEALpublished at 36 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Tottenham

    He's here, he's there, he's everywhere.

Son Heung-min sets up Christian Eriksen whose shot is deflected out to the back post. Moussa Sissoko hammers a follow-up that is saved at point-blank range by Victor Valdes.

A few seconds later, Dele Alli falls over under the challenge Cristhian Stuani - no pen says Oxforshire's Graham Scott. He's the ref.

  7. Will Boro be punished again?published at 33 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-2 Tottenham

Spurs seem happy to give Boro possession, the difference being that the home side haven't done much with it when they have it whereas Spurs...

I sense another couple, at least, for the men in light gold.

  9. goal

GOAL - Middlesbrough 0-2 Tottenhampublished at 23 mins

    Son Heung-min

Beat that Houdini. Obviously, he can't because he's not around anymore...

Anyway, what a goal. Seriously, you need to watch this on Match of the Day later.

Son Heung-min finds himself cornered on the byeline on the right-side of the area.

He manages to wriggle out of his position move to the edge of the box, turn and then bend a shot into Victor Valdes' far corner.

    Remarkable really.

  10. Is there a mistake in Tottenham?published at 20 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Tottenham

Anyway, Boro are pushing a bit higher and trying to pressure the Spurs defence into making an error. They just need to catch a break. Will Spurs give them one?

  11. Fun with the Sonpublished at 19 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Tottenham

Those who remember Croatian midfielder Robert Prosinecki will recall he had this one-dummy trick which kept baffling opponents. It was both annoying and admirable to watch.

Son is doing the same to Boro up to now.

  12. Son on a runpublished at 15 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-1 Tottenham

Goalscorer Son Heung-min dances past a couple of half-hearted Boro challenges and comes unstuck with just Ben Gibson to beat.

The home side look shocking at the back. Sorry Boro fans.

I think Middlesbrough goalkeeper Victor Valdes was caught a little bit by surprise with that from Son Heung-Min.

  14. 'Should the keeper have stopped that?'published at 15:10 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

Eriksen won the ball deep and played the ball into Son. His turn into the box saw him beat a player before unleashing his shot. Should the keeper have stopped that?

GOAL - Middlesbrough 0-1 Tottenhampublished at 7 mins

    Son Heung-min

It was coming, to be fair.

Son Heung-min plays a one-two with Harry Kane's understudy Vincent Janssen, feigns to shoot twice (debutant Calum Chambers fell for it) and fires in low past Victor Valdes.

That's the South Korean's third of the season.

Moments earlier, Dele Alli stung the palms of the Spanish keeper with a 25 yarder.

  16. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Tottenham

    That was a strange one.

George Friend delivers a peach of a cross from the left and striker Alvaro Negredo strangely directs his header in the direction from where the cross came from.

Anyway, Boro hit back. It's windy.

  17. Tottenham start wellpublished at 3 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Tottenham

Christian Eriksen, who twice found the net against Gillingham in midweek, smacks an effort against the legs of Cristhian Stuani.

Moments later £30m signing Moussa Sissoko strikes a fierce effort from 20 yards that clears the bar by a foot.

    Great start for the visitors.

  18. 'Great business by Tottenham'published at 15:00 British Summer Time 24 September 2016

    Middlesbrough v Tottenham (15:00 BST)

    Garth Crooks

It's been great business by Tottenham in recent weeks, signing up their younger players on improved deals. But as much as they are a successful business the fans want to celebrate some honours.

With the fixtures and underwhelming results that they've had, Middlesbrough's return to the Premier League has felt somewhat low key so far.

This game ramps things up a little and, even at this early stage of the season, could point to how the campaign will pan out for Boro. A third defeat in a row would be alarming.

Tottenham talk is dominated by the loss of Harry Kane for the foreseeable future, but I think they'll still get results without him.

Vincent Janssen will get a run of games now, and after needing eight to score his first Eredivisie goal for AZ last season, he then averaged one every match.
