Cheers ring round Vicarage Road as Jack Wilshere is shown a yellow card for a late challenge on Juan Zuniga. The England man doesn't even bother to argue his case with Mike Dean.

  2. Postpublished at 18 mins

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth have offered little attacking threat so far but the good news is that they haven't conceded which they did twice in the opening 25 minutes of their last away game against Manchester City.

This is what they call a slow burner - and I'm being very kind with that description.

  4. YELLOW CARDpublished at 15 mins

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Sebastian Prodl is booked for deliberate handball as Callum Wilson threatens to go clean through. Watford boss Walter Mazzarri is livid and has to be calmed down by referee Mike Dean. Heurelho Gomes is then forced into his first save of the game tipping Junior Stanislas' inswinging free-kick over the bar.

  5. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Etienne Capoue has four Premier League goals this term. It's fair to say the Watford player is better at scoring than he is at tackling. He charges into Adam Smith and is fortunate to escape a booking.

  6. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth have brought a decent away following with them but their side have hardly ventured outside their own half as the Hornets have enjoyed 70% possession in the opening seven minutes.

Bournemouth have offered next to no attacking threat in the opening exchanges but already promising signs from Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney, who are linking well for the hosts.

  8. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Great scenes at Vicarage Road as former Watford boss Graham Taylor is given a warm ovation from the fans as he takes his place in the VIP seats. Taylor responds with a beaming smile.

  9. CLOSE!published at 2 mins

    Watford 0-0 Bournemouth

Strong start from Watford who create an opening in the first minute as Odion Ighalo drags a chance wide from inside the area following Troy Deeney's flick.

It is hard to know what to expect from Watford. Bournemouth had a good win against Everton last week so I think picking up a point here would be a decent result to follow that up with.

Jack Wilshere is facing Watford at Vicarage Road for the second time this season. Back in August the England midfielder came on as a substitute to help Arsenal secure a 3-1 victory in Hertfordshire, his final match before joining Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season.

  16. Defensive changes for Hornetspublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 1 October 2016

    Watford v Bournemouth (15:00 BST)

Walter Mazzarri ditched his back three in the closing stages of the defeat at Burnley on Monday. It looks like Watford are going with four at the back from the start here with Younes Kaboul and Juan Zuniga starting.

    Steve Wilson
Match of the Day commentator at Vicarage Road

As Eddie Howe again finds himself talking about the possibility of being an England manager of the future, a visit to Vicarage Road will rake up some unpleasant memories from the past.

It's only three years since Bournemouth were thrashed 6-1 on Watford soil - Howe's heaviest ever defeat as a manager.

Watford's Troy Deeney bagged a hat-trick that day - he needs only two more goals to become just the fifth Watford player to reach a century of goals for the club.

Watford were so poor at Burnley on Monday that some reaction is surely guaranteed - if not, Howe's side could be set fair for a first away win since April.

No sign of any rain yet. Indeed, the sun is out as both sets of players are going through their pre-match routines.
