    West Brom manager Tony Pulis: "In the first half we sat back waiting for it to happen. In the second half we gave it a go but needed to score. As the game opens up they have real quality on the break.

    "I'm disappointed with all the goals. We should do better. You look at the money they have spent and their quality and depth is absolutely frightening."

    Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: "Disappointed. We created chances. We dominated the game. But I am disappointed with the way we conceded the goal. It's hard to lose two points.

    "I was disappointed for the goal as the way we conceded was a little unlucky. I am happy with the performance. We are still strong and unbeaten in the league, that is very important. It's true we are fighting and it's difficult to win games recently but the team showed it is strong enough."

    On Vincent Janssen scoring: "I am very happy with him. Since the day he arrived his behaviour and performance is always improving. it's important to hive confidence and trust in him."

    Pep Guardiola on ending their run of six without a win: "When we lose there are always doubts. Also in the second half I had doubts when we didn't play too well. I had doubts and saw what we had to improve. It's the first time I have not won in six games. Always you have doubts. Not over the principles."

    Leaders Plymouth beat Colchester 2-1, while Carlisle's unbeaten start to the League Two season continues into November after they beat Crawley 3-1 to remain second.

    Bottom side Newport claim their first win since August, and only their second of the season, with a 3-1 victory at Accrington Stanley. Exeter move out of the relegation zone with a 3-0 away win over Morecambe and Leyton Orient drop down to 23rd after a 2-0 home loss to Crewe.

    Fans of Portsmouth, Barnet and Stevenage are also celebrating wins today.

    Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "We need Sergio. We know how important he is for us when he can convince us how good he is and how important he is for this club. He is part of the history for this club. I would like to help him. Still he can write the most brilliant images for himself in this club. He is one of the best. I am going to help him to be much, much better. That is my target. So that every game he feels how important he is. I'm so, so happy for him because with all of that he is one of the nicest people I have met."

    The top four in the division all won. Leaders Scunthorpe won 4-1 against Swindon, Bolton in second defeated Port Vale 3-1, third-placed Bradford won 3-2 at AFC Wimbledon and Sheffield United edged out MK Dons 2-1.

    Bottom of the table Shrewsbury drew 1-1 at Southend, Chesterfield and Oldham both lost 1-0, against Charlton and Rochdale respectively. Elsewhere, there were wins for Millwall, Peterborough, Fleetwood and Northampton.

    Such an assessment does not make good reading for Jose Mourinho. His Manchester United side are eighth, five points off the top four, eight off the top and one behind Watford.

    Leicester are nosing up towards the top half of the table.

    Leaders Newcastle record their sixth consecutive league win as two goals from Aleksandar Mitrovic give them a 2-1 win at Preston, while second-placed Brighton thrashed Norwich 5-0.

    Third-placed Huddersfield also conceded five in their 5-0 loss at Fulham.

    There was late drama as David McGoldrick's 95th-minute equaliser for Ipswich saw them draw 2-2 against Rotherham, with Adam Hammill's late leveller earning Barnsley a 2-2 draw against Bristol City.

    Two goals in the last seven minutes gave Leeds a 2-0 win over Burton.Derby and Reading also won by similar scorelines against Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest respectively. Wigan won 1-0 at Cardiff.

    Tottenham scorer Vincent Janssen reacts to his side conceding after three minutes of the second half: "Its not possible after two minutes of the second half to concede a goal. I think we created some chances though so were unlucky today.

    "I want to score a lot and that's why I cam here to score goals. I'm happy with my one today but in the end we needed three points."

    It doesn't matter how many shots you have, it's about taking your chances.

    Tottenham will be frustrated. They hit the woodwork twice but it took a penalty for them to breach the Leicester resistance. Mauricio Pochettino's side also conceded their first league goal from open play today. He will be furious they started the second half slowly to give their advantage away.

    Wayne Rooney is deep in discussions with Mark Clattenburg who curls his lips and looks unimpressed by the arguments put forward by the Manchester United striker.
