Stalemate in Mark Hughes' 400th match as a Premier League manager. Stoke hang on for a draw with 10 men. 

Southampton guilty. They had chances to win this.

Sofiane Boufal gets on the ball again. Scampers across the pitch to wide left. 

He curls in a cross to the back stick which ebbs away out of play... Stoke are almost there.

Sofiane Boufal's cross is pinged clear by Erik Pieters. 

James Ward-Prowse lunges in on Glenn Whelan, free-kick Stoke. One minute to go. The home side look to soak up. 

Glen Johnson dribbles the ball out of play under pretty much no pressure. He sprints back to Stoke's deep lines.

Ryan Bertrand sees himself as the hero. Instead, he's summed up this game. Leaning back from range he blazes over. Wasteful barely covers it.

Southampton throwing bodies forward now. Stoke camped deep. How long to be added on?

Another change from Stoke. Consider Southampton's limited flow (a trickle by now) very much stemmed. 

Charlie Adam salutes the home fans as he is replaced by Marc Muniesa. A centre-back on to help the cause.

Mame Biram Diouf is down getting treatment. This is eating into Southampton-finding-a-winner time. 

Under five to go. Stoke are so close. 

Totally against the run of play Jonathan Walters is in acres of space and can dart away onwards to the Southampton goal, but by the time he gets there can only prod tamely at Fraser Forster from a tight angle. 

Sam McQueen is on for Southampton, Cuco Martina the man to make way.

Glen Johnson, with an awful touch turning to clear a cross, tees up James Ward-Prowse - composure required to smash home from about eight yards out... but his first-time shot is deflected wide for a corner. A big chance for a winner. Stoke get away with one.

Again it's the final ball - Steven Davis' cross is simply not good enough and asks way too much of Jay Rodriguez who can't connect steaming in at the back post. They were undone for a moment there, Stoke. 

Stoke have the ball high up the pitch down the Southampton left, it's a throw-in, played to Charlie Adam, whose touch takes the ball out of play. They're offering very, very little to this match. 

Dusan Tadic does a few stepovers and then fouls Glen Johnson. Neither side covering themselves in glory to be truthful. 

Just under 20 minutes to play.

Is this the missed chance Southampton will regret? Jay Rodriguez simply has to score. 

Joe Allen loses the ball in a dangerous spot, Steven Davis finds Sofiane Boufal and the cross to Rodriguez at the back stick is ideal for a sliding first-time finish. 

But the Saints forward fails to make any contact - yes there was pressure on him from Bruno Martins Indi but he should have put it away.

Stoke have still only made one change. Are the legs tiring? 

Those neck muscles must be strained at least, watching Southampton play it across the pitch. 

Southampton chuck on Dusan Tadic and Jay Rodriguez, with Nathan Redmond and Shane Long the men to make way. 

Two like-for-like changes. Can they deliver where others failed?

Stoke-Southampton has seen a sending off but no goals, so far.

Ten-man Stoke are very much on the defensive, and have only had five touches in the box all match, compared to 24 for the visitors.

Under half an hour to play. Southampton are strengthening their hold, but Stoke are proving difficult to break down.

Arg. Again Southampton overcook in the box. A corner falls to Jose Fonte and he just needs to wind a boot through it, but it's played out wide instead.

This is more like it! Ryan Bertrand absolutely hammers a shot on goal from range, forcing Lee Grant to punch over with a dive to his left. A fine stop.
