Atletico will be riding an emotional wave this evening.

It is Real Madrid's final visit to the Vicente Calderon before Atletico up sticks and head out to the shiny new Metropolitano in the summer.

"I think that Real Madrid has to be aware of what Atletico Madrid has at stake and where we play, with our people, and  that we will try to make a comeback," said Gabi.

"In the Bernabeu the other day, after losing by 3-0, the only thing that you could hear were the Atletico Madrid fans."

Atletico Madrid need goals. So it is no surprise to see Fernando Torres starting up front alongside Antoine Griezmann.

Torres is one of three returning faces alongside centre-back Stefan Savic and Jose Maria Gimenez.

Real Madrid's big names return - and, worryingly for Atletico, that means they are refreshed and ready to go.

Zinedine Zidane rang the changes for the weekend's easy win at Granada, so Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric, Marcelo and Toni Kroos lead the returnees as Zizou makes eight changes.

However, Wales forward Gareth Bale is still out with a calf injury.

Atletico XI: Oblak; Gimenez, Savic, Godin, Filipe Luis, Koke, Gabi, Saul; Carrasco, Torres, Griezmann.

Madrid XI: Navas; Danilo, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Casemiro, Kroos, Modric; Isco, Benzema, Ronaldo.

When Ramos was 15, he was so physical in a friendly, external against his 23-year-old brother that the older sibling was substituted off, bleeding and being told by his manager that it was embarrassing be shown up so starkly.

Cristiano Ronaldo was teased by his team-mates as a boy, external because his alcoholic father used to tidy their changing room for much-needed cash.

Marcelo nearly gave up the game entirely, external as because his family were struggling to afford the £3.20-a-day cost of accommodation at first club Fluminense.

Ramos is right. Real's team has plenty of dog and determination about them. They are not going to let this lead slip.

    Are they?

The Real Madrid captain has been questioning the media narrative in the wake of Real's stonking first-leg win last week.

These meetings are usually framed as the aristocrats of Real - flush with cash and privilege - against Atletico's streetwise upstarts - hungry for hard work and proficient in the dark arts.

"It seems like here we have grown up in Beverly Hills," said Ramos on the coverage given his side.

"Here there are people from humble backgrounds too. The sacrifice is what fills you with desire to win."

Why always him? - as Mario Balotelli might put it.

In the 2014 final, three minutes short of their first Champions League title, Sergio Ramos' late header denied Atletico and sent Real on their way to La Decima.

In the 2016 final, the same teams, the same scorer, the same outcome.

Now, in 2017, it is Ramos who has been twisting the knife on Real's city rivals once again.
