Very easy for Real. And Bale is back with a goal.

A trip to Valencia coming up in the week.

Poor Cristiano Ronaldo. He is pulled down to the ground inside the area and thinks he's won a pen after the ref Undiano Mallenco blows (obviously now visualising he'll take it and celebrate 'Ron-style').

But the linesman rules he was offside - he wasn't, by the way.

    You'll have another chance Crissy.

    Guess who?

How many times have we seen Gareth Bale score these types of goals?

The Welshman, who came on in the 71st minute having been out since November, is given the ball by Isco on the left about 45 yards out - and runs, and runs, and runs before firing a low angled shot past the reach of Diego Lopez.

    What a return.

Nacho hobbles off and Marcelo, who was probably hoping for a rest, comes on.

Espanyol's Jurado also comes off and is replaced by forward Alvaro Vazquez.

No shocks here but there's another brewing in the FA Cup. I say brewing, it's probably going to happen.

Who is on the verge of a cupset...?

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Gareth Bale is just re-familiarising himself with a La Liga contest.

His team-mates are doing the work and look comfortable despite it only being 1-0.

About 15 minutes (plus stoppage) remaining.

  10. SUBSTITUTION - Bale is backpublished at 71 mins

    Real Madrid 1-0 Espanyol

Gareth Bale makes his first appearance in a Real shirt since November.

He's got 20 minutes to make an im... to avoid injury.

    Alvaro Morata makes way.

Crissy Ron times his leap wrong!

The Portugal forward heads Alvaro Morata's cross over the bar from eight yards.

The fella won't be able to live that one down.

Hang on! Is that Gareth Bale about to come on?

The big surprise in Germany today was caused by Ingolstadt, who boosted their survival hopes by winning 2-0 at high-flying Eintracht Frankfurt - in a game of two penalties and two red cards. Eintracht, who had David Abraham sent off for a wild lunge before the break, saw Makoto Hasebe's penalty saved as they trailed 1-0. Pascal Gross scored from the spot for Ingolstadt, who later had Mathew Leckie dismissed.

Borussia Dortmund moved above Eintracht into third with a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolfsburg. Bottom club Darmstadt remain without an away point all season after losing 2-0 at Hoffenheim, for whom former Leicester striker Andrej Kramaric scored twice. Werder Bremen increased their chances of avoiding the drop with a 2-0 win at Mainz.

By the way, Bayern Munich's point at Hertha Berlin extends their lead to eight points as closest challengers RB Leipzig do not play until tomorrow, when they visit Borussia Monchengladbach.

The ball pinballs about after trickster play from Lucas Vazquez on the right of the area.

Espanyol manage to clear the danger.

I wonder how ol' Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores feels on the touchline? Perhaps surprised his side are still only 1-0 down.

And it's...... Casemiro. Not G Bale.

He's on for Mateo Kovacic, who was on a yellow.

Meanwhile, at the other end sub Hernan Perez forces a save - that's right a save - from Kiko Casilla at his near post.
