Summary

  • Eden Hazard returns for Chelsea

  • Crystal Palace chasing fourth straight win

  1. Chelsea dominating possessionpublished at 37 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

More Chelsea pressure. They have had 71% of possession so far. Palace are still defending well, though, and are not letting the hosts get into their box.

  2. Postpublished at 34 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

Wilfried Zaha is picking out all the tricks today, dancing away from a couple of Chelsea defenders near the corner flag. It comes to nothing, but impressive none the less.

All the Palace players are working hard defensively, though, denying Chelsea space and keeping them at arm's length at the moment.

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

Here's a chance for Chelsea. Jason Puncheon involved at the other end this time, tangling with Diego Costa about 25 yards out. He pleads his innocence, but referee Craig Pawson gives the free-kick.

David Luiz steps up to take this one... and lifts it over the wall - but, again, it is straight at Wayne Hennessey.

  4. Puncheon shows Palace are still threateningpublished at 27 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

It's been all Chelsea for the last few minutes but here's a reminder of the threat Palace pose too. Jason Puncheon is allowed to advance to the edge of the Chelsea area and lets fly with a low shot that is only a couple of yards wide of Thibaut Courtois's left-hand post.

  5. GREAT SAVE!published at 23 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

The first save either keeper has made, really, and it's a good one.

Eden Hazard and Cesc Fabregas combine again and Fabregas sends in a low cross that finds Diego Costa, who squirts in a shot as he falls over, bringing a superb block by Wayne Hennessey.

  6. Pedro gets up, but gets knocked down againpublished at 21 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

Pedro went off for treatment - and to get his breath back, I think. I had to do the same.

He was only back on for a matter of moments before being clattered again, this time by Andros Townsend. From the resulting free-kick, Palace managed to scramble the ball clear before it reached David Luiz on the edge of the six-yard box.

  7. No more goals... for nowpublished at 17 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

No more goals to tell you about but things are not exactly quiet at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea want a penalty when Pedro is clattered - and winded - after getting his shot away in the box folllowing a corner... and could arguably have one anyway because the ball hit Andros Townsend's arm. I've seen them given... but not today by referee Craig Pawson.

You are meant to be at your weakest when you score but it was the opposite for Chelsea. They let Palace equalise and then were exposed again on the counter-attack - again.

Can you believe it? Benteke puts Palace aheadpublished at 10 mins

    Chelsea 1-2 Crystal Palace

Had enough early drama? Thought not. Here come Palace again, surging forward. This time Wilfried Zaha turns creator, courtesy of a deflection off a defender that sees him collect the ball and find Christian Benteke unmarked in the box... the Belgian has been short of club goals recently but makes no mistake with a lovely dinked finish... and Palace lead against the leaders!

Zaha with an instant equaliserpublished at 9 mins

    Chelsea 1-1 Crystal Palace

What a response this is. There seems little danger when Wilfried Zaha receives the ball on the edge of the Chelsea area with his back to goal and Blues defenders all around him... but he makes space with some close control and places his shot into the bottom corner.

That didn't take long did it... ? Crystal Palace had not conceded a goal for near enough 300 minutes, until a bit of trickery by Eden Hazard on the left-hand byeline sees him make room for a low cross that is turned home by Cesc Fabregas from close range.

Chelsea take it quickly but referee Craig Pawson isn't ready and brings play back.

  20. Lawro's verdictpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 1 April 2017

It's in-form Chelsea versus in-form Crystal Palace so, what does Lawro think will happen at Stamford Bridge today?

"It is a big ask for the Eagles to extend that run of good form," says Lawro.

"Antonio Conte's side are getting so close to the finish line of the title race now, and they can win without playing well.

They saw off Stoke in their last match without ever looking that convincing and I think they will find a way to beat Palace too."
