  3. Murray to play on Sundaypublished at 22:19 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

Suggestions are that United should win that appeal against Simon Murray's second yellow card for simulation, which will free the striker to play in Sunday's second leg.

Will that be crucial? It is all set up for another exciting 90 minutes, maybe more if extra time or penalties are needed, at New Douglas Park as United chase promotion and Accies aim to avoid relegation.

You can see what all the fuss was about over Wato Kuate and Simon Murray - and many other incidents in a thrilling game - when the highlights of the game are shown tonight at 23:15 BST on BBC Two Scotland.

The highlights will also be available on the BBC Sport website at midnight.

  5. 'Kuate's played last United game'published at 22:15 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

United manager Ray McKinnon also confirmed that Wato Kuate will not play for the Tannadice club again after the disagreement with his team-mates that led to the 21-year-old midfielder from Cameroon being substituted.

"Absolutely," he told BBC Radio Scotland. "But my focus is on my good group of players there.

"Mark Durnan was telling him to buck up his ideas and, with Wato being a bit of a hot head, he did not take kindly to it.

"To walk off the park and show that disrespect to his team-mates will not be tolerated."

  6. United to appeal against red cardpublished at 22:12 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

FT: Dundee United 0-0 Hamilton Academical

Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon on BBC Radio Scotland: "At the time, we thought it was a penalty and we have now seen it back and it was definitely a penalty.

"The referee has made a bad decision and he has not been helped by his assistant.

"It would be an injustice if Simon Murray was to miss Sunday's game and we will appeal that red card.

"I understand that in big games like this decisions sometimes go against you.

"My players kept going when down to 10 men and put Accies under pressure.

"Hamilton were probably the better team in the first half, but we kept going and showed a lot of determination."

  8. Everything to play forpublished at 21:59 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

FT: Dundee United 0-0 Hamilton Academical

The first half belonged to Accies. They looked a league, even a class, above their hosts and controlled the play.

However, United boss Ray McKinnon hauling off Wato Kuate just after the break following the midfielder's temper tantrum turned the game more in United's favour.

Even the sending off of Simon Murray, who was unfortunate to be shown a second yellow card for diving, failed to knock the home side out of their stride.

Accies, who had already used all their substitutes, were effectively down to nine men themselves because of injuries but held out to take the game back to New Douglas Park all square on Sunday.

  9. 'We didn't take chances again' - Canningpublished at 21:57 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

FT: Dundee United 0-0 Hamilton Academical

Hamilton manager Martin Canning on BBC Radio Scotland: "It was always going to be a tight game.

"First half, we were probably the better team and it is the story of our season as we don't take our chances.

"We have got to believe we can create opportunities in the second leg.

"We have a couple of injuries. We are already without the suspended Darian McKinnon for the second leg and now we have to see how Dougie Imrie and Massimo Donati are.

"It was always going to be the team that handled the pressure most who came out on top and we have got to make sure it is us on Sunday."

  13. FULL-TIME Dundee Utd 0-0 Hamilton Acciespublished at 21:40 British Summer Time 25 May 2017

A controversial game is brought to a close with neither side able to break the deadlock.

And it ends with United feeling aggrieved at being down to 10 men, while Accies have only nine fit players because of injuries to Dougie Imrie and Massimo Donati.

For a goal-less draw, that was some 90 minutes of pure excitement and drama.

  20. RED CARDpublished at 77mins

    Dundee United 0-0 Hamilton Academical

A moment of real controversy as United's Simon Murray beats Scott McMann to the ball inside the visitors' penalty box.

The defender clatters the striker, who is shown a second yellow card for what referee Steven McLean rules as simulation.

Murray did fall to the ground rather theatrically, but TV replays show he was fouled.
