Fifa has been trialling video technology in the Confederations Cup. There have been some questionable moments.

Mexico's game with New Zealand was delayed for what felt like an age as the referee tried to stop a brawl between both sets of players. After getting things under control, he then had to go to the sideline to watch the incident again on a screen before coming over and booking one player.

But the most confusing moment so far was between Germany and Cameroon.

Sebastien Siani was booked and then after the referee consulted the VAR, it was upgraded to a red. But it was actually Ernest Mabouka who had committed the foul. They went to VAR again and Mabouka was sent off and Siani reinstated.

During that time there was a lot of confusion on the pitch. Cameroon boss Hugo Broos said after the game that he didn't understand what happened.

Fifa say improvements will need to be made to be considered at the World Cup.

Portugal's new Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva was a fitness doubt - but he starts. Pepe is suspended (no surprise there) - recent Rangers signing Bruno Alves starts in his place.

In a disastrous twist for me, the European champions have three players called Silva starting - one's called Adrien and another called Andre.

Chile are at full strength. Claudio Bravo and Alexis Sanchez extend their record as the joint most capped players for their country - to 114.

Portugal: Patricio, Cedric, Fonte, Alves, Eliseu, William, Adrien Silva, Bernardo Silva, Andre Gomes, Andre Silva, Ronaldo

Chile: Bravo, Isla, Medel, Jara, Beausejour, Aranguiz, Diaz, Hernandez, Vidal, Sanchez, Vargas.

  3. The Confederations what now?published at 18:05 British Summer Time 28 June 2017

Some of you may not really understand what the Confederations Cup is. And that's fine.

I don't really get why some British and Irish rugby players join up to take on one country every couple of years. No judgement here.

Anyway, the tournament is held the year before the World Cup, in the same country - Russia in this case. A warm-up for the main event really.

Eight teams enter - the champions of each continent plus the world champions and the hosts.

We've already had the group stages so it's 'see ya round' to Russia, New Zealand, Cameroon and Australia.

The winners of Portugal v Chile (tonight) and Germany v Mexico (tomorrow) play in Sunday's final.
