BBC Radio Bristol's commentator reliably informs me that Aston Villa have lost 50 of their past 80 away league games.

Yes, that takes in to account some Premier League campaigns, but still, it's not a great stat from a Villa point of view, is it?

Can they get their first away win of the season tonight? They showed some encouraging signs in the final 10 minutes of that first half. Their travelling fans would love to see them get three points.

  2. Tigers put three past Trotterspublished at 20:36 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

    HT: Hull 3-0 Bolton

    That half was all Hull!

One man in particular has been key, with Kamil Grosicki scoring the hosts' third after setting both Jarrod Bowen and Adama Diomande up inside the opening 20 minutes.

  3. A game of few clear-cut chancespublished at 20:35 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

HT: Bristol City 0-0 Aston Villa

It's not been a classic at Ashton Gate, but it's a decent game.

Villa seemed to adjust as the half went on. They switched to 4-4-2 halfway through the half and that seems to have countered the problems they were experiencing early on.

There's the half-time whistle. Off they go for a slice of orange or two.

As they enter one minute of added time, Villa's Conor Hourihane shoots wide to end the visitors' decent spell of pressure.

    Half-time beckons.

    Bristol City 0-0 Aston Villa

After a relatively strong first 30 minutes from Bristol City, Villa are ending this half the stronger.

Keinan Davis has a shot blocked, and then Ahmed Elmohamady's low cross from the right is parried by Frank Fielding.

They're in to the final minute of normal time before the break.

  7. SAVE!published at 41 mins

    Bristol City 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa's best piece of football so far tonight leads to a good save from Bristol City's Frank Fielding.

Andre Green and Kienan Davis combine to provide for Ahmed Elmohamady in the area, but the angle is tight and Fielding scampers out to make the save at the Villa man's feet.

Oh dear. Josh Onomah shoots from around 30 yards out but it's found it's way up to row Z. A good Villa move is wasted.

Now Villa have a free-kick in an interesting position, as Josh Onomah is clattered by Nathan Baker... But Conor Hourihane's in-swinger is claimed easily by keeper Frank Fielding.

At the other end, Villa's first corner is punched clear by Bristol City keeper Frank Fielding.

Marlon Pack clips the free-kick in for Bristol City, and a bit of head tennis follows in the Villa box, but the visitors eventually get it away. They're strong in the air, Steve Bruce's side.

Now Aston Villa concede a free-kick around 40 yards out from their own goals, as Christopher Samba goes through the back of Bobby Reid.

    This could be dangerous.

    Hull 3-0 Bolton

Good gets better for Hull, while bad gets worse for Bolton...

Kamil Grosicki played a hand in Hull's opening two goals, then he goes on a neat solo run to grab the Tigers' third after 29 minutes.

Bristol City full-back Eros Pisano is just getting some treatment for what appears to be a cut on his face. He'll be fine to carry on. But some blood on his shorts means he's having to change in to a clean pair of shorts. Off they come...

I'm not sure I'd be keen to take my shorts off in front of 27,000 people... Would you?

The Robins' Bobby Reid has four league goals to his name already this term. The 24-year-old is in terrific form and looks lively tonight as well.

Villa will need to keep him as quiet as possible.

When they break forward with Bobby Reid, Famara Diedhiou and Jamie Paterson all together, Bristol City look very dangerous, and that trio have all started the season well.

This time, from a Paterson cross, Diedhiou's shot is comfortably saved by Sam Johnstone.

GOAL (Bowen)published at 20:06 British Summer Time 25 August 2017

    Hull 2-0 Bolton

    Hull get another!

This time it is Jarrod Bowen who pops up to head home his third goal in five games this season!

Again, the man to provide the final ball is Kamil Grosicki.

Just like last week against Derby County, things are looking grim for Bolton early on.

Ned: Neil Warnock says he just wants another central midfielder, and I think that's about right. Good start, now need to build on it.

Top of the table with four wins from four Championship matches. Going very nicely, one would say!

Bristol City fans want a penalty as Bobby Reid goes over in the area, but replays show Christopher Samba didn't touch him.

Moments earlier, there were significantly more legitimate appeals for a handball against John Terry - which wasn't given - but he was well outside the penalty area anyway.
