    Celtic are exactly where they want to be as both teams head up the tunnel at the break - in front and in control. They've survived enough scares in the first half to know the visitors can be dangerous but Brendan Rodgers' side have been clinical when needed. Expect a different 45 minutes though because the visitors know they have to come out in search of an away goal.

    It seems wrong not to credit Tom Rogic with the goal after his marvellous run into the box and clipped shot across the face of the goal, but the Astana defender Evgeni Postnikov, facing his own goal and probably thinking Rogic's effort was going in, tries to scoop it clear but instead diverts it into the net. In any case, it's enough to send the home fans into raptures.

    Astana are happy to sit off Celtic in these early stages and soak up pressure. It's working for them so far as the home side continue to probe patiently for an opening. Celtic have been guilty of being a little casual at times though with a few overly elaborate back-heels that have failed to find their target.

    Astana are not here to merely frustrate Celtic. They are extremely well organised in defence, and denying the home side space to attack into, but they have also been controlled in possession, willing to be intrepid, and not reluctant to shoot from distance. This period of the tie requires patience from Celtic, and also Rogic to play his way into the pace of the game.

    Leigh Griffiths is a fraction offside as he makes a break towards the Kazakhs' goal. Nonetheless, he lobs the Astana keeper with a lovely piece of (wasted) skill. At the other end, Serikzhan Muzhikov gives Craig Gordon his first save of note, with a shot straight at him from 22 yards.

    That man Patrick Twumasi pops up twice in as many minutes. First, he is brought down by Scott Brown, who is fortunate not to be booked. He then picks up possession, cuts inside his man and hits a shot wide of the Celtic goal.

    Just when you think Astana had retreated into their own half, they have a chance down the left with Junior Kabananga but his shot is woeful, sliding wide of Craig Gordon's post. A minute later, Gordon rushes from his box to stoop and head the ball to his left for Kieran Tierney as Patrick Twumasi bore down on him. That's enough to keep Celtic on their toes.

The fans are on their feet as the little striker leaps but somehow he directs his effort well wide of the target from eight yards. A golden chance goes abegging.

The young Scot stands tall, and the Astana attacker merely knocks it past him. Celtic break quickly and midfielder Tom Rogic is hauled down by Evgeni Postnikov, who earns himself a booking.
