Just the one minute of injury time to play.

    Stoke 0-2 Chelsea

For the first time in this game, Chelsea start to show some frailties at the back. Stoke piling on the pressure and driving forward but each shot is blocked by an opposition defender. A Joe Allen cross invites an audacious overhead kick by Mame Biram Diouf, just to the right of Thibaut Courtois' goal. A decent effort.

    Stoke 0-2 Chelsea

Chelsea on top here with some fluent, free-flowing passing. I lost count of the number of one-touch passes they just made in a move, which ends in a glorious ball over the top by N'golo Kante which is marginally too long for Pedro.

  4. Postpublished at 34 minutes

    Stoke 0-2 Chelsea

Clumsy from Tiemoue Bakayoko, who bundles Joe Allen to the ground just outside the box for a free-kick. Xherdan Shaqiri, hands on hips, with his curved run, hits it well and it looks like it's heading towards the top-right corner, but Chelsea's wall does its job and it goes out for a corner.

GOAL - Stoke 0-2 Chelseapublished at 29 minutes

    Pedro (Chelsea)

Stoke have it all to do now and it's the captain Darren Fletcher who is massively at fault. The ball loops up midway into the Stoke City half and Fletcher chests it back towards his own goal, setting up Pedro, who drills it into the net. A poor, poor mistake but a brilliant finish from Pedro. There was hardly any back-lift as he struck it with power. Jack Butland had no chance.

    Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

Chelsea continue to press as Willian and Victor Moses link up well, the Brazilian's cross into the box failing to reach the head of Alvaro Morata.

Moments later, the goalscorer tries a Cruyff turn and is brought down in the middle of the park. A lack of clear chances since the opening goal but an entertaining first 28 minutes!

  7. Postpublished at 22 minutes

    Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

Glen Johnson takes too long on the ball in his own box and is nearly caught out by Pedro.

Antonio Conte running up and down the touchline in his usual animated way. You get the feeling that Stoke are playing with bursts of intensity. Chelsea mixing up the short and long passes, forcing the opposition to chase.

  8. Postpublished at 16 minutes

    Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

Stoke do well in crowding out Tiemoue Bakayoko as Xhereden Shaqiri looks for an opening to let that lethal left foot loose, but he just can't pull the trigger as Chelsea get men behind the ball.

  9. Postpublished at 12 minutes

    Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

Xherdan Shaqiri steaming in through the middle. He plays it out to Diouf on the right. His cross is blocked out by Marcos Alonso for a Stoke corner, which comes to nothing.

This is a real open game; it looks like there could be plenty more goals in it. Stoke are really giving it a go.

  10. Postpublished at 9 minutes

    Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

Stoke have reacted well to going down so early, but Chelsea's backline are looking comfortable. The Premier League champions looking the more solid team but Stoke enjoying plenty of possession.

  11. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Stoke City 0-1 Chelsea

A reminder for Chelsea that they can't switch off. Diouf with a side-footed ball nearly found Shaqiri in the box, but a good interception by Bakayoko.

Is Morata allowed to score with his feet rather than his head?

His movement is perfection for a centre-forward. I'm not saying he is a better player than Diego Costa but his movement is much better.

GOAL - Stoke 0-1 Chelseapublished at 2 mins

    Alvaro Morata (Chelsea)

Morata scores. That didn't take long! Stoke started with some intent but there was some fine defensive work by Tiemoue Bakayoko in his own half, winning the ball as the Chelsea counter-attack had too much for the home side. Azpilicueta with the assist as Morata slots home with a neat finish. He doesn't just score with his head!

Eminem's 'Lose Yourself' is being played out, under the chorus of cheers, as the players make their way out of the tunnel.

The last time these two played in the league, this happened. Those Conte celebrations are hard to forget.

I don't think there are many players who can do what Diego Costa can do, so of course Chelsea will miss that.

He is an exceptional player but I don't think his movement is as good as Alvaro Morata, so Chelsea will gain something and they will lose something.

Despite that draw with the Gunners, the stats make good reading for Chelsea fans ...

They have lost only three of their past 23 Premier League games (W17, D3) and have won seven of their past eight away matches in the league.

Diego Costa will be missed by the Premier league. He is a great goal-scorer and brought a bit of colour to the league.

It's the best thing for everyone and hopefully they can get on with the season now.

Conte thanks Costa for 'what he did for Chelsea'

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has thanked forward Diego Costa for his time at the club.

Earlier this week, Chelsea agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Costa back to the Spanish club.

The move, which will be completed in January, is subject to the agreement of personal terms and a medical.

The Spain international, who has stayed away from the club this season, has scored 58 goals in 120 Chelsea appearances.

"I'm not interested in talking about the past," Conte added.

  20. Lawro's predictionpublished at 14:51 British Summer Time 23 September 2017

    Stoke v Chelsea (15:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC Sport pundit

Stoke boss Mark Hughes was absolutely fuming after Tuesday's Carabao Cup defeat by Championship side Bristol City and he will get a reaction from his side.

The Potters will set it out to make it difficult for Chelsea, and they showed against Manchester United earlier in the month what they are capable of against the top teams.

Chelsea disciplinary record not an issue - Conte

Chelsea are no pushovers, though, and will be ready for a battle.

    Prediction: 1-1
