A despondent Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross; "It was a tough day at the office, first half we were very poor."

Was it a hangover from getting thrashed at City? "You'd have to say so, we looked off the pace. It's up to us on the pitch and in the first half hour we were very poor."

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson speaking to Match of the Day: "There were some very good performances from us in particular. The quality of our play was very good.

"We need more than a goal to take one point and set plays are always a problem. It was unfortunate as our player got his head to the ball but headed it against the Newcastle bloke.

"I cannot criticise our performance. From the first minute to the last it was everything I expected and under normal circumstances would have got us a result."

  3. 'Bournemouth wasted time'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

    Stoke 1-2 Bournemouth

    Stoke City

Stoke manager Mark Hughes: "We didn't cope with the conditions in the first half and made mistakes. It was hard to get out.

"Second half we had the wind at our backs and were much better but we couldn't find the final touch that we needed."Bournemouth killed the game and wasted time, they did exactly the same last year. As the away team why wouldn't they do that?

"We were better in the second half but the damage was done. Jese had a big shout for a penalty but I'd have to see it again. We have to be better next week."

  4. 'It was a penalty'published at 17:11 British Summer Time 21 October 2017

    Manchester City 3-0 Burnley

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "Burnley have won in amazing stages this season.

"Another good performance. In the second half it was amazing how good we played. A lot of control and after the second and third goal the game is over. I'm so happy to continue our winning mentality."

On the opening goal: "It was a penalty. Bernardo touched the goalkeeper. He touched Bernardo's foot and put him down."

On Aguero equalling the club goalscoring record: "Aguero should pay a tribute to us, he should invite us to dinner maybe. One more goal, it's going to happen sooner or later.

"Another clean sheet is so important. We have the ability to score a lot of goals. We had a lot of chances and the keeper made some good saves. We were stable in front and back."

On levelling a club record of 11-straight wins: "The record is good if you lift something, titles or a trophy. It means a lot. Of course it is not easy to win 11 in a row, so it's good."

"It is another step forward. We thought that we had to win this game, and they had confidence and were ell organised, so we knew it could be tough.

"The main thing is we keep pushing and winning games."

On Yohan Cabaye's challenge: "We cannot change what the referee decides and move forward."

Benitez on the goal: "We need to put the ball there (for Mikel Merino) he went with determination and that was the key.

"We have a very clear idea and have to take one game at a time. At the moment we are in a good position."
