The Gunners are flying but I am still waiting for the moment where they slip up.

United are on a good run too of course, but it is the sort of fixture where you look at the way Arsenal are playing and think Jose Mourinho would take a point.

    Prediction: 1-1

It looks very nippy out there.

Mesut Ozil is in full winter pre-match gear. Snood (remember the kerfuffle?), long pants, the works.

There are also four goals on the pitch - two will have to be removed.

So Arsene Wenger has surprised us all, we were told Alexandre Lacazette was out with a groin injury but low and behold here he is in the starting eleven. A miraculous recovery.

No surprise either that Nemanja Matic has passed a fitness test and starts for United.

So two unchanged sides for the “old friends” Wenger and Mourinho. It’s always fascinating watching the two of them in the technical area - there’s clearly no love lost and as a rule Jose rarely loses. The pair have met 18 times and Mourinho has been on the losing side just twice.

Some facts for those who like to tweet facts.

    • Arsenal have lost just one of their last five Premier League home games against Manchester United (W2, D2).
    • The Gunners are aiming to win three successive home league games against United for the first time since 1991.
    • Manchester United's last win at the Emirates was a 2-1 victory in November 2014, Louis van Gaal's first away victory as United boss.

    John McEnroe

Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho: "Yesterday I was watching an interesting movie, Bjorn Borg versus John McEnroe, and Borg's coach was telling him that all the time: 'One point at a time, think just about one point'.

"And I tell my players: 'Think just about the game'.

"I always say this. It doesn't matter what comes after, or what happened before. It is just this game. So now it is Arsenal. "We don't think how many points we are in front of them (four), how many we are behind the leaders. It is just Arsenal."

Arsenal manager Arsene WengerImage source, Getty Images

Here's Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger: "Yes, certainly he has had time to put his print on the team, he is now in his second year.

"They look to be a strong team. They have power, they have a lot of power up front. Every player has power. Romelu Lukaku, now (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic is back you can't say this guy lacks power; Marcus Rashford, (Anthony) Martial.

"They all have power, so our defensive performance will be important when we don't have the ball against them. Overall I believe that they are a dangerous side, you look at their players and they can be dangerous everywhere."

Arsenal v Man Utd (17:30 GMT)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

"Take each game as it comes' is the old cliché, but it'll be hard for Manchester United not to see this game as the first of a set of two, with the Manchester derby next Sunday being the other.

"If United lose both games they will, in all probability, be fourteen points behind their neighbours: a surely insurmountable chasm.

"Arsenal - who have won their last twelve home league games - should need no greater incentive than closing the gap between them and United to just a single point.

"In the event of their season becoming a scramble for the places from second to fourth, that could be crucial.

"As Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho fight it out again, I have no doubt that somewhere Pep Guardiola will be watching on, enjoying the spectacle."

Memories... in the corner of my mind...

    • The Brawl of 1990
    • The Battle of Old Trafford in 2003
    • The Battle of the Buffet in 2004
    • The Battle of Martin Keown screaming in the face of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

What happened to those good ol' days when the rivalry between Arsenal and United was more bitter than Marmite ate neat with a squeeze of lemon juice?

Of course, one should not give up hope that we will only witness football [heaven forbid] at the Emirates today because in each corner we have long-standing foes Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger. No love lost.

I jest, of course. We (most of us) only want to see a game of a football minus the histrionics.

So without further ado, it is time to present:
