    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

Brighton (shown here on the left) have made real use of both flanks so far in this match; but it has been a far more disjointed offering from Burnley who have struggled to create much in Brighton's third of the pitch.

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

That missed penalty hasn't really changed the flow of the game, it's still all Brighton at the Amex.

Burnley will be pleased to get to half-time with the scores still level.

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

There's a bit of a case to suggest that justice has been done for Burnley with that penalty miss.

Replays show that Murray, sensing the presence of Tarkowski, seems to hook his leg around the defender and go to ground quite easily. The Albion man was certainly looking for it.

    It's all Brighton now.

    Brighton 0-0 Burnley

Albion's 4-2-3-1 system requires their wingers to be on the ball in wide positions, and that delivery from Bruno is an early suggestion that Brighton will create opportunities this afternoon, as another ball in from the right wing from Knockaert glances off the head of Murray and goes well wide.

    Brighton go close again!

This time it's Bruno with time and space on the right, he looks up and assesses his options before picking out the head of Glenn Murray who makes a powerful and goal-bound connection from six yards - but it's straight into the grateful gloves of Nick Pope.

Burnley finding some joy down the right against Brighton early on.

  19. 'Can Burnley's impressive run continue?'published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 16 December 2017

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

There is so much that is remarkable about Burnley's season it's hard to know where to start.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about them is that they are playing with such small margins week after week; only two of the 17 league games they have played this season have been decided by more than a single goal.

Eight of their nine wins, and three of their four defeats, have been by the smallest possible margin. If there is a mental strain to that, it's not showing.

Brighton have hit the kind of lean patch which Chris Hughton would always have known was possible. Just two points from their last six games, and one goal in five (a penalty), have left them only three points above the relegation zone.

    Brighton v Burnley (15:00 GMT)

    Ray Wilkins
Former England midfielder on BBC Radio 5 live

To finish the weekend in fourth place before anyone else kicked off was incredible. I couldn’t believe it. Burnley have turned their home form into their away form too.

The way they play, their unity is fantastic. Nobody thinks they’re better than anyone else. I love it. When they make a substitution, they hug each other and on they go.

When you go to a club who are higher with more successful players, you take on the ego. Sean Dyche has a player who is just a level - without being disrespectful – below the top level. If you go top level, it’s very different. Their players will have a totally different outlook on football.

He's British, that's why he's not being given the opportunity to get a job in the top four or top five.

You have to beat the teams around your area. They beat those teams and now they’re beating the teams in the middle of the table. They are sixth, ahead of Arsenal and Leicester.
