    Metz 0-1 PSG

From the next attack, Kylian Mbappe is free down the left and pops in a superb outside-of-the-foot cross to the back post for Edinson Cavani, whose header is acrobatically pushed away by Eiji Kawashima.

What a ball that was from Mbappe.

    Metz 0-1 PSG

Great play from the front ment.

Kylian Mbappe linking up with partner Edinson Cavani by backheeling a pass into the Uruguayan's path.

But this time his finish is poor and straight at Eiji Kawashima.

    Edinson Cavani

    PSG

    Finally the breakthrough.

PSG get the opener and it is too easy.

The world's most expensive player Neymar slots an outside-of-the-foot pass through to Edinson Cavani.

The Uruguayan goes round the Metz goals and has Kylian Mbappe alongside him. The young debutant thinks about nicking it off his team-mate, but he would be in trouble at half time if he had.

Instead, Cavani rolls a finish into the open net.

    Incorrect.

    Metz 0-0 PSG

Oof, Metz almost take a shock lead.

It is former Newcastle striker Emmanuel Riviere who gets the ball at this feet in the box.

His back is towards goal, so can he turn?

He can indeed, spinning past Marquinhos and arrowing a shot which clips the post.

PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola waved it wide, but it was closer to goal than he thought it was.

  6. CLOSE!published at 27 mins

    Metz 0-0 PSG

Looking for more goals is Thomas Meunier.

The Belgian full-back attempts a first-time volley when a cross-field pass drops over his shoulder, but plants it into the side netting.

He needed to do a David Platt on that, whip it back across the goalkeeper and into the far corner.

The logner MEtz can hold out, the more they will grow in confidence.

Renaud Cohade whips a delightful ball in from the right, which Marquinhos has to stoop to head clear.

From the corner, Nolan Roux heads wide of goal from a couple of yards out, but from an offside position.

Gary McDowell: Cavani, Zlatan and Di Maria.

    Incorrect.

    Metz 0-0 PSG

    The closest PSG have come.

Striker Edinson Cavani is played through by Thomas Meunier and dinks the ball over the advancing Eiji Kawashima, but strikes the foot of the post.

20 minutes in and Metz are holding their own so far.

That £400m+ front line has caused few problems for goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima so far.

Former Cheltenham defender Yuri Berchiche smashes a left-footed drive wide of goal.

    Very ambitious.

It almost ended up in Cheltenham!

    Oh come on, Ivan Balliu.

The Metz defender is blocked by Neymar when attempting to bring the ball out and goes down like he has been clotheslined by Triple H.

    Embarrassing.

Thiago Motta is the skipper for PSG these days.

Whenever I see his name, I always think back to when he played for Barcelona and pulled his hamstring when trying to catch the original Ronaldo, who was running through on goal for Real Madrid.

    Look it up on YouTube.

Lucas Moura, Thiago Silva and Dani Alves - chins slumped on hands - watch on from the bench.

The three Brazilians can't get a game for PSG and would probably walk into the starting XI of any other team.

Meanwhile, Metz have their first effort on goal, but Renaud Cohade's shot from outside the box is always rising into the stands.

    Must be, must be? No.

Yuri Berchiche finds acres of space down the left and rolls the ball to Julian Draxler inside the box.

The German sidesteps a defender and shoots at goal but it is saved by Eiji Kawashima.

It falls to Edinson Cavani, six yards out, who hits his effort straight at the goalkeeper.

It would not have counted anyway, the linesman's flag was up.

    Metz 0-0 PSG

Sloppy play for Adrien Rabiot, trying a dinked pass inside his own box but conceding a corner.

Mathieu Dossevi swings it into the back post, but no Metz player can get on the end of it.

PSG will need to cut that overconfidence out, or risk getting punished.

    Skills.

A bit of showboating already from debutant Kylian Mbappe down the left.

He rolls his foot over the ball, stops, rolls his foot over the ball again before Metz defender Ivan Balliu is able to get a foot in.

    Metz 0-0 PSG

PSG full-back Thomas Meunier, fresh off an incredible hat-trick and four assists in Belgium's 9-0 World Cup qualifying win over Gibraltar, is playing deep in the final third.

He is seeing plenty of the ball in the opening minutes.

Unai Emery's side are almost playing a 2-4-4 at the moment.

    Metz can't get out.

  20. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Metz 0-0 PSG

An early reducer from Renaud Cohade.

High onto the shin of Edinson Cavani and the PSG striker felt that one.

Just a word from the referee though, seen red cards given for less.
